Isnt Chris Anderson a better choice over Lee? He can be our center.

that I'm not sure about. D Lee is a double double machine and has potential to get even stronger. If there was ONE player in the NBA I'd be willing to part with Scola for, it would be D Lee

Why would Morey be interested in David Lee when it's a logical assumption that he covets Bosh?

Great addition if he comes. Hustle his butt off, and he will make scola looks like yao.

But, at 10m? Or like some says 8.5m. I pass.

The OP said we should sign Lee because he could be part of a trade for Bosh during the season. Doesn't make sense to me.

I'd much rather snag Okafor, were there any way to do it. A rebounder and shot blocker, great on the offensive glass, doesn't turn the ball over, shoots at a nice percentage, who's biggest flaw might be "Bad FT Shooting Syndrome." That's an all too common malady of centers, excepting our superlative, but oft injured, Yao.

    Okay,

Here's my idea about the whole thing.

Trade TMac to NYK for for S&T David Lee and Mobley, then ship David Lee to GSW for Turiaf and Wright.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=paqmnk

Pardon the inclusion of Richardson on the Trade. I just used him for salary purposes.

Then send Battier and Brooks to POR for Bayless, Fernandez, and Outlaw.

Next summer let Mobley and Outlaw go, and our roster looks like this in '10:

    PG Lowry, Bayless, ?
    SG Fernandez, Taylor, James White
SF Ariza, Budinger, Wright (can also play PF)
    PF Scola, Landry, Hayes
    C Yao, Turiaf, Dorsey

That's a good young deep team, I think. A team that Bosh would want to play for. Now to get him some things need to happen.

    - We may need to trade Landry for a future 1st, but we wouldn't need him after that anyway.
    - Lowry resign for a starting salary of about 4 mil
    - Convince Yao to resign for starting of about 12-14mil. I think he'd do it on a contender like this.
    - Possible have to renounce Hayes

But to me, this would be a great young, contending team. What do y'all think?

If it came down to either signing Lee this year and getting him as our center but losing out on a chance for Bosh/Wade/etc in 2010, I say go centerless this season. Lee wont make a difference for us this year (by difference I mean making it to the nba finals), so wait for next offseason. But, if we can get him and still be able to make a push next offseason, go for it!

David Lee is a terrible defender and gets his points off garbage buckets. Scola's a much better player.

Lee is a really good player, however he is not worth the money that everyone is projecting on him.

10 million for a role player. 10 million that would tie the team down. No. please Morey get the team a center. ( A healthy center )

He LED the league in rebounds and comfortably averaged a double-double. I love his game but not for this team. Also, the last 10 players to average a double-double going into free agency have all signed much larger contracts.
