Mango -- not sure. Some rumors are just that -- rumors. You don't really know. I'm mixed myself on whether Walt should stay or go (obviously if he played all the time like he did the final 15 games or so then hell yeah he should stay)...

I don't think Miles will have the immediate impact say a Lamar Odom did. I think Miles has potential superstar written all over him but like Kobe, McGrady and Garnett, he'll probably be brought along fairly slowly and have a quiet first year.

Then again if the Rockets scoop him up he'll probably have lots of chances for some PT.

I agree though ... Miles has amazing talent.

Doc-If we traded Cato, who do you think we'd get to play center? Swing a deal for Kandi maybe?

Also: Chicago can't get 2 of the top 4 picks (unless via trade), because the pick that Washington owes them is lottery (top 3)protected.....am I missing something?

Nike- Chicago could hypothetically get #1, 2 or 3 with their own pick, then get #4 if Washington gets it.

    ------------------
The ninth pick in the NBA 2000 draft goes to... The Cleveland Cavaliers.

Actually NIKEstrad is correct ... Washington if they are in the Top 3 keeps the pick .... if they're NOT in the Top 3 it goes to Chicago....

... but the highest the Washington pick can be if it is not in the Top 3 is #6...

So best case scenario for Chicago is #1 and #6 I believe...

Can you imagine the outcry from all the ej0881's out there if Washington actually wins the lottery?

He only attempted one 3 pointer in that game, and he missed it. You're thinking of Jerry Rice's nephew (or cousin, can't remember), Darius Rice. He was 4-8 from 3 pt. land in that game. One thing about Miles in that game I noticed was it was all about athleticism. I don't recall him popping any long range bombs. Trust me... his jumpshot is suspect from what I've read everywhere. But the good news is that you can teach somebody to shoot, you can't teach them some of the God-given ability I saw out there from this kid. He has a motor that just doesn't stop running.

I hope I can answer these questions and don't leave any out.

If the Rox can get Swift, they take Swift...period!! If they get the number 1, I would assume they'd take KMART but I do not know that for sure. From what I've been told, we need to learn the word 'athleticsm.'

I'll be seeing someone tomorrow who can tell me very surely what direction the ROX are going. However, where we're going is not condusive to waking up early Sunday and posting BUT...I'll try!! [IMG]

I'm really hoping to hear some good stuff Sat. being that I'm a huge fan as well. Here's what I have thus far -

Center if Cato is traded?? Don't know! But Dream is here and Webber is a free agent next year and I KNOW, I mean I KNOW that Webber is a target as of this moment but it's still a ways off!

Make no mistake, Cato is going to be shipped if we can get anything close in return.

From what I hear, if the Rox can get KMART, they take him. If Swift and not KMART is attainable, they take Swift. Miles or Miller will be there at #9. Things are pretty planned out but until the lottery, ZERO is for sure. I'd love to tell ya we're going to get SWIFT but I can't do that. Don't forget, Rudy and my ass. coach friend LOVE Mike Miller. The Rox are not building for a title run in 2001. Remember that...

Also, my guy from Detroit said TODAY that Grant told a buddy he may stay in Detroit. So, as far I know regarding Grant Hill, well..I don't know crap.

whew Doc Rocket, you are answering just about all the questions in my mind to my satisfaction.

    But here is one.

Do you know who the Rockets are looking to use that trade exception for?

A center to replace Cato maybe?

    ------------------
    Cato is 7 feet tall.

I do not know who the trade exception will used for or with. What I can do is make an educated guess from what I do know.

The talk is that Drew is being shopped and there are teams that are very interested. Now, here's the dilemna - If Drew is used with the exception you can go $4.5 over and thus receiving a $7 a year player.

Now, if it's used with Cato, you could get several players totaling around $10.5 to $11 a year depending on who's involved. Here's the p[roblem, the Rox are holding their breath and seeing what happens. Because wer'e rebuilding and because it's so difficult a process, it's beneficial to have as many options as possible and hope for the best. My gut feeling is that the BEST is on the way. If it works...it's gonna work well!!

    Doc -- Well said.

Correct me if I'm wrong though -- aelliott and apparently Juan Valdez brought up the point that Cato's base-year contract means his trade value is only half what it is on paper ... (step in here aelliott and give me a hand [IMG] ) ....

Thus a trade exception and Cato comes out to around $7 million? I believe that's correct.

Then again, I know who you are ... and I know not to disagree [IMG]

Doc is sending a subliminal message!!! He said "My gut feeling is that the BEST is on the way."

That means the player is.......TRAVIS BEST!! Best of all, he fits all clues, and I think he's a free agent. [IMG]

Anyone else notice what a funny word best is when you say it several times?

Anyhow, Clutch also just hinted something out about Webber. Yumm.....but where would he play if we got Swift? Swift or Webber aah.....I can't decide. I think Swift could quite possibly be better than Webber....Webber can't play center, I think Washington tried that....maybe Swift could play SF, and we could get a center that shoots 3s (somewhere?) Webber and Swift do have decent shot range.

DeShawn Stevenson has a pretty accurate jumper, and a 40+ vertical. If he was 2 inches taller......Dermarr Johnson is a pure shooter too, and he's 6'9''.

"From what I've been told, we need to learn the word 'athleticsm.'"

This seems to contradict Clutch's big thing, where Clutch said the player was not 'overly exciting' (Do you mean skill wise, or by exciting, do you mean flashy (John Stockton is not overly exciting, but gets his job done.....Jason Williams is exciting, but he's pretty poor skill wise)

I hope this doesn't mean Chris Porter.....but an athlete I wouldn't mind would be Desmond Mason......or Stromile....or DeShawn....or Darius....or Miller. But the strange thing is....I can't really think of any centers that are more athletic than Cato....maybe you could say Shaq or TD, but there aren't many centers out there that run well.

BTW, Doc-What do you know on the Vancouver front about talks with them? (please say there's nothing about Reeves)

When I said athleticism, I meant that our future lies with speed and athleticism. In the draft, that's the hope. As far as Clutch goes, he has his contacts and they're very solid. I have some ideas about what Clutch is saying and he his reasons for holding out. He's not going to give in and possibly forsake the big picture.

I have heard nothing on the Vancouver front but that doesn't mean somethings not going down. Understand this though, we MUST get Mobley back! That's a fact!! Then we can 'look for people who want playing time with a great young team...right?? ' [IMG]

    Next question for Doc Rocket:
Now we know the Rockets want Webber and Swift. Assume everything was to magically fall into place and we got both. Would that mean Swift plays the small forward position and Webber the power forward position? Or Swift at the 4 and Webber stretching it as the center? Or even Swift playing center and Webber playing power forward?
