The Cat - I agree about Collier. He was just getting comfortable before his knee injury. Comparisons between Langhi and Nowitski are not unrealistic. Dirk had the benefit of 20+ min/g his rookie year and shot around 40% from the field (20.5 of 3's). IMHO, If Langhi got 20 min/g, he easily beat or match Dirk's rookie season of 8.2 ppg. Other than experience, Dan just needs to make up the 25# advantage Dirk has! Way too early for All Star status, but I think a contributing starter is a real possibility. ------------------ GATER
Just in case you didn't know, Langhi is about half a year older than Nowitzki and has more basketball experience in terms of years of playing competitive ball. While I agree that Langhi can be a good player, he will never be as good as Nowitzki. Nowitzki will be a top 5 - top 10 player next year. Langhi might become a top 30 player at some point in the future.

"But for now we can see similarities in build style of game but a str8 up comparison is not even NEAR FAIR" Look, Langhi is never going to be as good as The Big Dirk. He's just not as talented. Just look at what the Big D did against the High School McDonald's All Americans in 1998. He just tore them up to lead the International team to the win. They threw Al Harrington, Rashard Lewis, and the kitchen sink trying to stop Dirk. As good of a shooter Langhi is, Dirk is a top tier gunner with more range. Highly skilled with the ball. Much better rebounder. Tremendous feel for the game. Much more size and length than Langhi. I think Langhi can be good. Maybe even real good if he works at it. But I think the Big D is a superstar right now and is only going to get better. ------------------
I think Nowitzki should be an all-star this year, but probably won't. He has the talent to be an all-star for years to come starting next season. I think he is more valuable to the Mavs than Finley. I think once Dan calms down and just plays his game on the court, he'll be just fine and very productive. I think he might be a guy that is either going to be a 'tweener'. I mean that he'll either be an average starter or a very good bench player. And he does have good hops, but Francis stands alone in that category. ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
I dont see why any of you can deny the possibility of Danforth Langford- as he shall be called from now on- becoming the next dirk novitzki. Dirk might have gotten lucky in the McDonald game, but did you see how poorly he played in his first year in the NBA? If langhi got that much playing time he would be phenomenal. And to prove to all of you that langhi is better... Does Dirk have monster ups? Did Dirk have to play behind premier small forwards such as Matt Bullard? And most importatnly, did Drik beat Stromile Swift for sec player of the year? The answer to these three questions is no, no , and NO!!! It is only a matter of time until langford get enought PT to prove all his naysayers wrong. ------------------
Look, I love Langhi, but I think Dirk is the next Larry Bird, he is VERY smart, and is an awesome player. I think Langhi could be real good too, but I want to see him play more often to get a better measure. "Dirk might have gotten lucky in the McDonald game, but did you see how poorly he played in his first year in the NBA?" You try being 20 years old and playing in a new country/culture and see how well you play. He didn't exactly play poorly his first year in the league. He was good enough to eat Pippen's lunch when he played against him. 8.2 ppg, 0.57 bpg, 0.62 spg, and 3.4 rpg in 20 mpg. Those look pretty damn solid to me. And obviously the McDonald's game was not luck because he is the clear cut best player from that game on both teams. Al Harrington and Rashard Lewis still aren't the kind of player that Dirk is. ------------------
Who the hell cares if Langhi ends up as good as Nowitzki. We don't need him to be our best player, Dallas needs Dirk to be theirs. We already have our best and 2nd-best players, we only need Langhi to fill out the rest of the lineup. I think a better question would be--can Langhi end up better than the 93-95 Horry? I think there's no question that he can. ------------------ "I have to say, I don't understand why these Rockets' fans are booing Scottie." -Calvin Murphy Only on this BBS will you see Hakeem Olajuwon compared to Scottie Pippen.
He was good enough to eat Pippen's lunch when he played against him. 8.2 ppg, 0.57 bpg, 0.62 spg, and 3.4 rpg in 20 mpg.-DaMan Solid numbers yes. But he shot 40% from the field & 20% from 3 point land. But I essentially agree with TheFreak. We don't need him to be our best or 2nd best player, but it's still fun to think about how good he can become. Main thing Langford needs to do is GET STRONGER. If he can do that, then he has a really nice future. ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB... He IS our future All-Star Small Forward
True that snowman. Dirk might have gotten "solid numbers" but he took a lot of shots and had the time to do it. Langhi does not need to be the best on this team, but im just saying he as a lot of potential. He is our small forward of the future, but if he had to he could be just as effective as Dirk. ------------------
The guy was ballin up the lakers bench players and now he is an all star? He has alot more learning to do to become a decent player. He needs to go hit the weight room , he doesnt look any different since he got drafted. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
I've seen it when talking about KT Now with Langhi look folx AGE ain't got sh*t to do with it Even Basketball Experience we talking NBA Experience!! 4 yrs of college DO NOT equal 1 yr in the NBA So Moe's NBA are WAY more than KT's college Yrs Dirks NBA yr are more than Langhi's College yrs When KT is a 4 yr man and Langhi has as much experience as Dirk then Let's see. But for now we can see similarities in build style of game but a str8 up comparison is not even NEAR FAIR Rocket River ------------------
Francis3: Langhi has been hittin the weights. They said the strength coach has been working with him, but I believe it will be a slow process (as the results so far have indicated). I don't think the coach's wanna mess up Danforth's shot. I've read before that working out a lot will screw with your shot. I heard Mitch Richmond reference about that a while back. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know... its just a possibility. But regardless, Danforth has been hitting the weights... it just takes time when you have to get that much stronger. And wasn't Langford driving effectively against Robert Horry most of the time? Horry's not some bench warmer scrub, and he's a pretty decent defender too. ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB...
