I know this is early, and it is still a few days away, but do you guys think we can pull it off against them?

why not? Its not like the mavs have been playing great ball this season. Infact, i would as far to say the rockets are playing better ball as of now. Doesnt mean we are the better team. We come to play the mavs 5-1, i see this team with confindence, and can easily pull out a victory. this isnt the same 0-4 team against mavs of last year. THis is a van gundy, steve and cat and jj improved basketball team. Isee the us stopping the mavs below 85 pts, and us getiing atleast 90.

Oh No! I hope the Rockets are not already counting the Miami game as a win. They need to play and win it first!

The Mavs are deeper and more talented than us and I don't think we can beat them right now.

yeah, we might not be the deepest or most talented team in the league, but on any given day I think we could beat any team, especialy Dallas, if we play tight D

I went to the game last night, and I felt something big. I have been a fan for years, and this teams chemistry completely overshadows the chemistry of the past 5 yrs. They look great!! This is the sleeper team of the year I think, one that may cause an upset or two, or three!

    Dont underestimate this team...

Dallas has no D, just O
    We have good(sometimes great) D, and good(sometimes great) O

    It could happen..

matter of fact....Im gonna predict we win at least 2 possibly 3 from Dallas this year.

I think Dallas is going to be a very disappointing team this year. They have a bunch of players who are all exactly the same -- pretty good shooters, pretty good ball handlers, okay passers, but they don't play good defense, and they are weak inside. That's been Dallas' problem for the past 2 years -- they are a band of wusses. If Dirk played tough inside, he'd be a top 5 player in the NBA. As it is, he's GREAT even without any toughness -- imagine how much better he'd be if he would man-up and fight in the paint.

I think Dallas has a TON of talent. However, I've never liked Antoine Walker's game -- he's soft inside, shoots too much, dribbles too much, and plays no defence. Antawn Jamison is a similar player -- not the shooter or ballhandler that Walker is, but he still shoots from the outside too much, and doesn't fight in the paint as much as he should. I guess I just think Dallas isn't physical enough. I don't think it's because the players can't be physical, I think it's because they don't WANT to be physical. All that Dallas needs is someone to come in there, bust some heads and start really taking on the big boys in the paint -- Karl Malone would've been awesome there. Someone like Kelvin Cato or Ben Wallace or Kenyon Martin would do WONDERS for that team.

Oh, come on! It's not like the Rockets overlooked Miami at home last year and.....oh wait, they did.

Seriously though, I think it's safe bet to say the Rockets will be ready for the Heat on Tuesday. Yes, Miami is the only winless team in the NBA, but that'll actually help the Rockets' motivation. They don't wanna be the first ones to lose to them. Plus, they'll wanna win the game for JVG since he's coaching against his brother.

    Keys to beating the Mavs:

    1. Play tough defense
    2. Don't ever get into a Sacremento Kings style shooting contest against the Mavs.
    3. Don't go 1-on-1. Play as a team.
    4. Again, defense.

Dallas has 5 scorers playing with 1 ball. They might gell later on in the season, but right now they haven't got a clue as to team chemistry. We should win the 1st 2 games, but I'm not so sure about the others. Depends on how long they remain clueless.

The Dallas game is very interesting!

I am very interested to see what the Rockets do against the Nash, Delk, Finley, Walker, Dirk lineup. I am interested in seeing who will be guarding Walker and Dirk. Is Yao going to be chasing Dirk all around the floor? Or Walker?

Clearly on the offensive end we should have an advantage with Yao in the post but defensively this game will be quite a test for JVG! This is the type of game in which Yao NEEDS to dominate. We have to keep up with the Mavs. We HAVE to make the Mavs pay inside. Because you KNOW the Mavs will try to make us pay on the offensive end with Dirk at center running around screens for jump shots.

Deuce, Dallas is afraid of our backcourt as much as they are afraid of Mr. Ming.

The biggest key that I see is that our team has been together as-is for a few years now, with obvious exceptions, and are starting to develop some chemistry. The Mavs are still struggling to learn what everybody does well and how to get everyone involved. I foresee that Mavs as one of the upper echelon teams this year, but they won't get it together until after the all-star break.

We will suffocate them with our team defense and Yao will go off on the soft underbelly of the Mavs (Bradley).

    Rox - 92
    Mavs - 87

I'm sorry, but the Mavs will whoop the Rockets asses. The reason? Turnovers...The Rockets are one of the most turnover prone teams in the leage, and the Mavs will turn them into all kinds of fast break points....

Oh yeah, and Dirk always seems to eat the Rockets for dinner...
