He was supposed to be a more muscular version of Iverson. If they meant a muscle head ball-hog they were right on.
i rember when he scored 100 back at camden highschool. i was across the bridge in phily and everyone was talking about it. he was supposed to be the next big thing.
The Cavs asked him to learn to play the point, since he is like 6'1". I think that he told them to F___ themselves. Then he had a long series of injuries (knee, hepatitis I think, something else too) and dropped off the planet. I think he was in some preseason training camps, particularly the Heat's, but didn't make it. I don't know if he's in the NBDL. He was a scorer who relied on shooting all the time rather than a high percentage, and he never had the quickness to live up to the AI comparison.
This guy has/had superstar potential and never amounted to ANYTHING. That's a real shame. If he ever gets healthy I would say bring him in for a workout, he's still only 22-years-old. At this point, he would probably be a lot similar to Luther Head and I am a bit skeptical if he would be an improvement or upgrade in any aspect. But still worth taking a flyer on, no less.
I recently read in ESPN that he's going to get a lot of his colon removed because of some illness He's had a string of bizarre injuries/illnesses. He was a Flip Murray type scorer when healthy.
well he made it to the nba that's amounting to something in my book. wagner has had some bad injuries otherwise he would still be playing.
I think he meant relative to Wagner's projected potential coming out of highschool and college. As opposed to, say, Dave Jamerson or Dirk Minniefield -- who also made it to the NBA.
His not being in the NBA has nothing to do with his ability. You guys are making jokes and what not, but the guy had a major illness. He was forced to have his colon removed and doctors say he may never be able to play again. He is trying to recover in the process and he thinks he will be able to make it back in the big leagues.
i didnt know about the colon thing but im pretty sure him not being in the NBA has nothing to do about ability. he could score really well even in his rookie year and he would have only been a soph. in college then. another point if ryan bowen is in the nba then wagner would to.
