Check this out from the Blazers home page. I the Rockets make sure Anderson's back is ok, if they trade for him. http://www.nba.com/blazers/features/Trail_Blazers_Activate_Shareef-133240-41.html Trail Blazers Activate Shareef Abdur-Rahim February 23, 2005 The Portland Trail Blazers have activated forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim from the Injured List and placed guard Derek Anderson on the Injured List with back spasms. Abdur-Rahim was placed on the Injured List on January 7th and had surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow on January 12th. The 6-foot-9 forward originally sat out six games in mid-December with a hyperextended right elbow. After returning for three games and sitting out another, he was placed on the Injured List. The Trail Blazers open a five-game homestand tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Rose Garden. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
Question: -Can a player be traded while on the IR? -Isn't there a minimal of 5 games before a player can be removed from it? Doesn't seem like he's coming here... ALA
Putting DA on the IR was more about getting SAR off of it. I am sure the "back spasms" is just a "phantom" injury. Just goes to show you how much in the dog house DA is. He is healthy, yet they dont need him on their 12 man roster. If that's the case they might as well move him for Taylor to see if he could help them. We really need to make this DA/Taylor trade.
I don't know why it hasn't been done already, it seems like a natural. I don't like Portland's posturing though, if you were going to trade a guy, why put him on the IL, just trade him. I don't think Portland wants to let the guy go unless they get the right deal, I don't think they think MoT is the right deal.
