He is having a carrier year. After back 2 back injury years in 06-07 / 07-08, in which he only played 51 games in both, he is back to his old self if not better. Right now he is averaging: 29.9 point per a games (leading the league in ppg), 7.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, & knocking down 49.9% of his field goals. Right now its a 3 man race for MVP: James, Bosh, & Wade. Mann ohhhh mann will it be a interesting 2010 off season. I hope Wade can keep it up for the season. Like he has said a lot of times, his goal is to play all 82 games this season. Keep it up Wade & keep Houston in mind in 2010!
Bosh has ZERO chance at an MVP............. D-Wade is fantastic, but the Cavs are truly elite, which I think gives the edge to Lebron..........
I was going to start this thread last week. I really thought he had hit some wall because of all the injuries. A couple of weeks ago they were on television against Phoenix I believe and he looked like a he was a step ahead of everyone else. I personally was never a big believer until the olympics this past summer. he was dominant and it really helps to have a Chalmers on that team running point. that was a nice draft pick for the heat
I love Wade probably more than anyone else here but there is no race for the MVP: LeBron is walking away with it while everyone else sits and watches. I don't care if Wade ends up averaging 35 ppg. I know it's early and things can change, but LeBron is the man.
You meant fantasy league MVP. If his team doesn't even make the playoff, I have hard time seeing him even in the consideration for MVP. Tmac, AI, we have seen that.
D.Wade is my favorite NBA player. He is not only skilled but he plays with such heart. Without injuries the next MJ? Might still happen.
He's much improved but he has a very limited outside games. Anything 20 feet and out, correct me if I'm wrong...
no... That's always been his weakness. If you back up off of him and dare him to shoot jumpshots, he won't make them (clutch time is a different story). You've seen it this season when he shot 30% against us and any other time a smart defender backs up. Its the same thing with Lebron, they're poor jump shooters but they have great shot selection (normally) and can finish as well as anyone ever has. If you did the same thing to lesser players like Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Joe Johnson or even Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant they would kill you that night. If Wade had a great jump shot he would be BETTER than Jordan.
Wade gets uncontested jumpers from 15 feet in anytime he wants to. He also drills them with regularity. Don't let the Houston and Portland games fool you. All players have off-nights, even MJ did. "Smart" defenders don't back up and give Wade mid-range shots because he will kill them. Calling him a poor jump-shooter like LeBron is dead wrong. Wade's "weakness" is he doesn't have 3-point range and too often he takes off the first half of many games before cranking up his intensity (though this year has been different). Another thing, Wade still wouldn't be BETTER than MJ if his jumper was more reliable.
out of the 148 players who qualified for the 82games.com shooting stats he is tied with joe johnson for the 25th best 2pt jump shot shooting percentage at 46.6%. ray allen is 2nd at 53.1%. kobe is 45th at 43.9%. redd and pierce are tied with carmelo and tj ford for 119th at 34.4%. http://www.82games.com/0809/FGSORT7.HTM to get an idea for the range of the 2pt jump shot they are tracking just think of a nowitzki/garnett/parker range jumper.
Well, you're right i should have specified long 2's and 3's. Obviously no one is backing off him all the way into the paint, Ron didn't do that. I meant if he takes uncontested long 2's and 3's all game he won't do well, while there are some lesser players who would. I still think in this day and age (with the rules that make it impossible to guard quick players) if Wade was a great long range jump shooter that there would be no way to stop him, ever. And i think that he would put up better numbers than Jordan (I won't debate different eras, it's impossible).
you can't see that wade has a higher shooting percentage than those other guys you listed? i also like how you ignored all the other players too lol.
i guess i was mistaken a bit on the range that is considered a 2pt jump shot but shaq is also near the bottom of 2pt jump shots as a percentage of total shots taken. about 2/3's of his shots are considered inside and 1/3 are considered jump shots. the 9 players above shaq J.Nelson R.Allen Okur M.Williams Nash Gasol J.Hayes C.Paul J.Smith and the ones below shaq between wade Kapono Stoudemire Gibson Mayo Young Nene Gordon Nowitzki Finley Harris Ilgauskas Watson West Knight
