First of all, I wouldn't presume to understand fully what's going on in her mind based on some stuff I looked up about Sikhs/India on the internet. As to whether her lifestyle choice should be characterized as laziness, self-resignation, or principled non-conformity, I'll go with the latter. Maybe its a defect on my part, but I generally prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt unless I have a good reason to think poorly of them. In any case, I respect her for speaking up in a polite and dignified manner to those who were mocking her. Not much of a guess, given my username and my vegetarianism which I've mentioned a few times. (Passive aggressive? Yeah, guilty. )
