Well if any of you guys watched the half-time interview with John Lucas of Denver. John Lucas compared Cuttino mobley with MJ saying Cuttino Mobley is the best inbetween player in the league right now and that Mj was an inbetween player. How do yuo guys think Cuttino measures up with MJ as of now? ------------------ -Junkyard Dog "Maybe we need an enema" - Othella Harrington (former pf for the Rockets) [This message has been edited by Junkyard Dog (edited November 30, 2000).]
Cuttino can not be compared to MJ. Jordan was bigger, stronger, much better defensively, smarter, etc.., etc.. Mobley is playing really well now, but let's not go overboard and compare Cat to the best ever. ------------------
to true I'll agree with that any day of the week, but the way cuttino can pop-up into a jumper or create off of the dribble; he will probably end up as one of the best shooting guards of his time. ------------------ -Junkyard Dog "Maybe we need an enema" - Othella Harrington (former pf for the Rockets) [This message has been edited by Junkyard Dog (edited November 30, 2000).]
What he meant was offensively,Mobley is just like MJ in that he is unstoppable and has you at his mercy! ------------------ President of the why in the Hell isnt Langhi playing club!!!

Once he gets his defenders number....drives for layups a couple times. Then he pops a jumper....gets that cocky attitude...it's almost as if he's in the zone...he'll pop a couple jumpers...then as soon as his defender thinks "don't let him get that jumper" he uses that first step for another layup. He's a demon offensively when he gets in his Cat Frenzy . One big thing he has to improve and understand. Is not to force the action when double teamed out at the three point line. He needs to understand that there are 4...or 3 other players I mean(if Shandon is on the floor, hehe playful humr no harm) that can score or take advantage of their open shot. This would in turn open him up later once they would have to honor the open man. This is exactly what happened in the Miami game after a few timeouts to get Cat to do this. Miami doubled Cat outright...he finally passes around the perimeter and KT and SF make them pay a few times. Then they have to stay at home and Cat has the easy ISO(easy for him). Told you I had more ranting to do. Oh yeah....no he's not MJ, but isn't it cool to have "The Cat" hissss meow! lol Loyal and loveable....hehe ------------------ [This message has been edited by Digaida (edited December 01, 2000).]
The Cat a demon? Hmm never noticed it before but it seems Mobley is a "Thundercat" you know the cartoon, and the saying "Thundercats Hooooo!". If you don't know wtf I'm talking about you missed out big time ------------------
Gene Petersen said the same thing on the radio broadcast tonight about Cuttino being the best one-on-one player since Jordan.
He can penetrate like MJ, that's it. Defense / rebounding - no comparison at all... But the penetration ability (first-step) is enough. ------------------

ok . . . I'LL SAYING IT IMAGINE WHERE CAT WOULD BE IF HE COULD TAKE 3 STEPS BETWEEN DRIBBLES LIKE MJ Rocket River Palming rule could only TRULY be enforced post MJ ------------------
What the hell does that mean..."in between player?" In between what? He is a player, as MJ was. I don't think there is any comparison between MJ and Cat. None. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Hoop-T: What there talking about when they use the term inbetween player is Cuttino's and MJs shooting range. When the 3 point line was initiated as Calvin Murphy mentioned last night (or maybe John Lucas), shooters started either making a perimeter shot or driving into the basket, the middle distance jumper really lost meaning especially with todays atheleticism. I don't know about comparing MJ to Mobley ala the whole deal, but as far as offense, hes the only player I've seen that can consistently just burn you either way. Does anyone know Jordan's numbers for his 1-3rd season? ------------------ -jbond77
MJ was not the best ever his 3rd season, i know that... ------------------ I'ma need more than 6 and a half rebounds a game from the PF

I agree with TB3 - there is no comparison. Except to say that MJ was much better (but then you could say that about pretty much anybody ever to play). I've always thought Mobley was more Allen Iverson than Jordan. Undersized SG that can score like nobody's business, and makes the big shots. Can pass when he wants to, but its not exactly his first choice. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
Bwahahahahahaha!!!! If Mobley is the best "in-between" player in the league today and he's the best comparison to MJ we have, then that tells you how great MJ was. Mobley isn't even half-an-MJ. Vince Carter is half-an-MJ, though. ------------------ -------------- Did you know? Derrick Chievous sucked. It's true. -- from the ClutchCity.net "Did You Know" sidebar
Hmmmm....his first few years, MJ took too many bad shots...cat takes too many bad shots...MJ had a smile...Cat has a smile...MJ played against Bird...Cat has seen a bird...Yep, sounds like a second-coming to me..... ------------------
