How is he perceived in his home state ....now? Since his banishment from most social media platforms, he really has fallen off the face of the planet.
I lived in Austin for 15 years and never heard a thing about him. I had heard of the show but never listened and couldn't have cared less about where it was located.
Yeah, I would watch his stuff sometimes because it was hilarious to think some people took it seriously. I will miss it. I love when he talks about how liberals have created half men half lizard creatures and things like that. He was brilliant.
funny you mention AJ. my friend just introduced me to a podcast called 'behind the bastards' and i listened to their 3 part alex jones series this week. its definitely worth checking out. https://www.behindthebastards.com/podcasts/part-one-alex-jones-the-godfather-of-fake-news.htm there is another one on there about steven segal and its probably the funniest podcast episode ive ever heard - i had no idea what a terrible person he is! ive been in austin since 95 and he was on cable access tv back then. he was the black helicopter guy and seemed pretty harmless. then 9/11 happened and he started making a bunch of movies and his radio show blew up. i ran into him a couple times - he was always pretty friendly and he did not have the bad rep in austin that he does now. he was probably the main guy going after the bush administration so the left loved him and the right loathed him...its funny to now see that dynamic completely flipped. i think the sandy hook thing and the fact that he was attacking the parents turned a lot of people against him. he used to be anti-establishment to the core and i tuned in recently and heard him propping up greg abbot and ted cruz...hes obviously just chasing the trumpublican audience at this point. mainstream republicans who would have punched alex in the face/cursed him out 15 years ago for saying 9/11 was an inside job are now his primary audience. anyway, i saw him at the judas priest concert when they played funfunfun fest back in 2014. i said "hey alex jones!" and he goes "im not alex, im his cousin". and i said "oh, or are you bill hicks" - he looked like he wanted to punch me and then he turned to his girlfriend and went "thats another big conspiracy theory about me". but what was really crazy was that in the next issue of texas monthly there was an article about the 'bill hicks is alex jones' conspiracy...either really weird timing or alex knows someone at texas monthly and mentioned what i said to them. https://www.texasmonthly.com/the-da...egendary-long-dead-texas-comedian-bill-hicks/
He actually had a following back in the GWB days. I lived in ATX around then and knew plenty of Lib friends who were all about his conspiracy theories. Nobody really knew him in social circles that I know of though. However during the Obama years he became a right wing nut, and had to get even crazier to keep getting noticed since the conspiracy theory world took off post 911 and especially with all the crazies who thought Obama was the antichrist (literally... not joking). His following now in the Trump era is certainly not in Austin, or Houston with normal people I know of. I’m sure he has to keep a pretty low profile even in his swanky mansion somewhere up by lake Austin. His stuff is so crazy it’s more for the paranoid 3rd grade education types living in trailer park America. Pretty sad really. Texas has its share of snake oil salesman that keep a low profile in their area but have a national nutcase following. Up here in DFW we have the Daystar folks selling the afterlife for just 200 dollars a month. Send us your money now to earn your spot next to John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary. Not sure but it must be the states lax business rules that brings in the worst of the worst. Not really sure but they are here even if their fans aren’t.
The funny thing is, the gay frogs thing is apparently the only conspiracy theory that ended up being true. Even a whacko is right once in a while I guess.
I agree... the problem is that people really started to believe him. How? I have no ******* clue how or why, but it became dangerous. Alex Jones is going end up murdered, in prison, kill himself or die of a heart attack. There are no happy endings.... although I am hoping he turns out to be a serial killer on par with Bundy.
Typical BS from the media. His wife was kidnapped by Obama’s private cyborg army and she was replaced by that chick from the tv show Small Wonder.
the podcast i mentioned goes into great detail on that case. its in part 3 if you dont want to listen to all three hours (even though you should). they basically forced him to admit in court that his whole act is a fraud and that he is just playing a character. they set him up by playing a bunch of clips of his show as a way to show he is an unfit father - so he was forced with the choice of saying its all an act or possibly losing his kids. they also have a bunch of court transcripts quoting some of the things he said during testimony. its hilarious. part one talks about his early life. he claims to have slept with hundreds of women by the time he was 15 and that he was dating college girls when he was in high school. claims he used to get in fights with full grown men when he was a kid and would beat them up. its f***ing hilarious!
