Well, Ive always thought that, my feelings are just emphasized with our slumping power hitters.

I read an article several years ago. The author's theory was that a team's two best hitters should never be seperated by more than 2 batters. In this case, Biggio and Berkman. The theory has always made sense (i.e. bidge leads off with a hit, Everett and Bags make outs and you still have your best hitter up with a chance to get him in).

Plus, Ive always though the right-left-right combo would be hard to counteract in the late innings (by brining in a left handed reliever).

I hope so. Its a long season, so they are both bound to get on a hot streak (as well as a few more slumps).

Im mainly concerned with Bags shoulder and its affect on his swing. Who knows with Doggy. he looked like the best hitter in the league early on, and I think hes batting under .100 the last few weeks.

Does anyone else think, that with Bags shoulder, that its possible he might not be here next year?

Yes, I do. he doesn't appear to be able to get around on heat. He admits to hurting. I think retirement or DHing real possible.

Retire after winning WS? Way to go (out), Bags!

Baseball's so weird. Everyone thought Biggio would be gone after this year and should have been gone after last. Yet it very well may be Bagwell who doesn't come back. I think Bagwell will give it at least one more year though, especially if Clemens comes back for another year.

    Notes of tonights game:

Against Maddux, Brad Ausmus is 10-for-28 (.357), Jeff Bagwell is 18-for-70 (.257), Berkman is 1-for-6 (.167), Craig Biggio is 29-for-97 (.299), Kent is 17-for-63 (.270), Mike Lamb is 0-for-1 and Jose Vizcaino 3-for-27 (.111).

Last time Andy Pettite faced the Cubs he gave up 6 earned runs in 1 2/3 innings of pitching.

i don't think Pettitte can be that bad again, no way no how.

Since the beginning of the 2003 season, the Cubs and Astros have nearly identical records. The Cubs are 113-93, while the Astros are 112-95. The Cubs have 235 homers, the Astros 237.

Bagwell and Biggio are the #2 and #3 in number of HR hit against the Cubs. Bonds is #1. (Bagwell hit 32, Biggio hit 25)

    So in conclusion.....Astros win!

    SWEEP!!!!

Maddux needs certain umpires to be really effective.

If they are giving him the ball 6 inches off the plate and calling it a strike he is unhittable.

If...they call a REAL strike zone he is VERY beatable.

Here is to hoping they get the STRIKE zone right, no Eric Gregg please.

I am waiting for the sh** to hit the fan. I am sick and tired of them looking like a real team.

    I say....BRINg OUT ThE BROOM!!!!!!

And then sweep the Cards!!! That will give us a nice winning streak and cross out our horrible losing streak.

It was interesting when the announcers mentioned that the Reds have actually been out scored by their opponents to date.

Since I'm too lazy to go look it up for myself, would someone mind telling me why Corky's on the DL?

I hate it when that happens!

It pulled something in his back, or something along those lines? I do remember the announcers saying something about that last night, though I didn't realize it was Sosa.

And people thought the old "falling off a treadmill" excuse was bad...
