Does Mark Cuban sitting in the audience and yelling at the team add pressure to the team? Does this in turn make it more difficult to perform? Should an owner really behave this way and is it perhaps a reason they are choking the playoffs? on a side point of this thread, I encourage you to post pics of Cuban making an ass out of himself.
I don't care. He usually doesn't scream unless his team is winning. When they're losing he a quite as a mouse.
I'm sure they worry but he overpays his players so I guess it comes with a price. Look at Erica. how much does he make?
Keep trading away core assets for flashy players from ****ty teams Mark, you're bound to hit the jackpot one of these days.
I really thought the last trade for Butler and Haywood would help them (make up for the Kidd panic trade) but Butler is really playing poorly in the playoffs. I though he would be the guy that kept attacking to the paint when Dirk folds up when the defense gets tough on him. Butler is watching dirk shoot too many jumpers and he is doing the same thing. Barea is the only guy that tries to drive and score more often than settling for jump shots. When will Dirk learn? Maybe he wont and that is why they will never get past a physical team....
He is probably one of the best owners you could ever have. The guy will do anything at all to try and get his team team to win. It's not just about profit numbers to him. The guy truly cares about his team. If we didn't have Les as an owner he would be up there with the select few of which I would not mind having the reigns.
Les sits on the sidelines often at Rockets games... you don't see him making a total doof of himself. They'll never win a ring while he's (Cuban) in command.
She looks at her partner and he looks at the audience. What absolute vanity. As for as Cuban hurting his team. Well, his mouth has never really helped matters.
I have supervised employees and I've always found that it's much better not to micro-manage- yes, mistakes will be made, but as long as there is a solid plan for resolving customer issues, it's not a problem. I'm not really sure how Cuban's presence affects them- matter of fact, they're a mystery- is it Dirk? Is it Cuban? I mean, yes, they've choked big time, but they've also won a lot of playoff series, as well. If I had to venture a guess, I would say: 1. Cuban probably makes some players a little bit nervous and others could care less. 2. The players on the Mavs seem to be "isolationists" in key moments for some of these games. They don't seem to play as much team basketball and the few points it costs them makes a difference. 3. Defense, defense, defense- I still feel this is the main thing- good defense rattles them and they don't play enough of it to close out playoff games. Wade, Davis, Paul- and now add George Hill to the list- they don't play tough D on these guys and let them run amok. Then, when they try to play good defense, instead of quick rotations and up-close defense, they just foul or fold. Cuban's good in that he's not afraid to spend money and he gives the fans a great entertainment experience. He's bad in that I don't think he's a good judge of talent or situations. I wouldn't have made the Kidd trade, I wouldve' done Kobe for Dirk in a heartbeat, or even Shaq for Dirk for that matter, I wouldn't have picked up Marion, and I wouldn't have given up Jamison. Then again, who am I to talk? I just really think he's not a good talent evaluator- he should stick to the marketing and business side of things and let his GM/coaches do their jobs. He and Jerry Jones- nice pair.
On another note, I don't hear Mark Stein's big mouth praising the Mavs right now!!! He's the real curse! LOL
Being hands on almost got him a championship so it's not entirely bad. What's entirely bad is the fact that he's fine with trading for big name players but aren't adept to re-signing or keeping the ones that are currently on his team (i.e. Nash, Antwan Jamison to name a couple).
the Mavs were a joke before he came along, so no. Cuban has built this team into a successful franchise. He is basically a regular fan with a ton of money. I think it was probably annoying for him to be joining the huddle in timeouts, but they outlawed him from there a few years back. I find it hard to believe that Dirk might feel added pressure from Cuban sitting close by. Those guys are trained to block everything out. That being said, nothing makes me happier than to see the Mavs lose. I hate them more than any other team in the league and hate Cuban too. The 2006 NBA Finals are one of my favorite series of all time
