Yeah, apparently they were gutless until this year. What a crock. Actually, Baggy's numbers in his first four post-seasons series are fairly similar to a cetain Hall of Famer's first 3 post seasons. Maybe I'll dig that up later.

No offense Leroy, but this attitude doesn't win anything. He's won the hearts of Houston fans, but winning the hearts of strangers takes something. He needs to do something that makes him a household name. As far as great plays go, a great play in the middle of the game is different than a play that will win the game. It could be the same difficulty, but added pressure does something to the human psyche. Let's see what he does in this next series.

I'm so happy for Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. They are Houston legends and are the best position players to ever play in an Astros uniform. They really should both be in the Hall of Fame.

That article by Jason Stark was a good read. My last hope for this season is that they can just make it to the World Series, they don't have to win it, but just make it there so the whole country can learn of their amazing story.

    GO 'STROS!

    Exactly.

I have no idea what the average 610 caller will b**** about now in regards to the Astros. I'm sure they'll make up something, unfortunately.

Biggio was the KEY to the 7th inning rally Monday.

When he came up to the plate with 2 outs, Viz on second, I muttered to the TV, "C'mon Bidge, don't let him sneak in a fastball for a strike, you have to go for those..." reason being that I don't know how many times I've seen pitchers get ahead of Biggio then leave him flailing at an outside slider in the dirt.

So, what does the Braves pitcher do but get two quick strikes on him. The count was 0-2, and truthfully as a lifelong Astros fan I was just hoping he didn't make too much of a fool of himself going for that junk breaking ball. Well, the inevitable slider in the dirt came, but, amazingly, Biggio let it go by! I was shocked. Then, the next pitch was a fastball on the outside corner. Rather than foolishly trying to pull it, another bad habit of his, Bidge stroked it into right field for a base hit. It was so beautiful...

The hit scored Viz, our first run of the inning, and set the stage for Bagwell's RIGHTEOUS homerun. :D

Anyone who doesn't think Biggio was the key to the series should think of what would have happened if he'd stayed true to his unfortunate tendencies and either struck out or grounded out while trying to pull the ball. Think of how it would have broken our backs to see him walking back to the dugout after looking ridiculous swinging at a junkball in the dirt.
