And now there's $400 charged to f'n Abercrombie and Fitch, and another $375 to some other clothing store. Oh, and I'm spending Saturday night calling credit card companies to cancel everything.
OUCH. If it isn't bad enough someone stole your card, turns out a DOUCHE stole your card. *sympathies*
You would think they would ask for I.D. when you're spending $400 on clothes.... Maybe it's an inside job? I know of people who do this ****. It's a ring of crooks.
Its on them if they let someone else spend that much without asking for and verifying ID. Seriously, its on them. Make sure they pay. Its their problem not yours.
sounds familiar, a few months ago I got called by American Express about "suspicious activity" on my card- $880 at a store called american eagle, and then $600 dollars at Nordstrum's in Arizona (I live in Vegas). they thieves also tried to charge a $450 dinner at a restaurant who refused and thats when American Express caught on... fortunately they were very good about cancelling my card and giving me new cards and reversing the charges. the funny thing is that the $600 at nordstrum's was in gift cards which nordstrums was able to zero out immediately. -so rule of thumb, if you're gonna buy something with stolen credit cards, make sure its a tangible item and not gift cards also Nordstrums called me and asked if I would be willing to press charges against anyone who came in to the store trying to use those gift cards - of course I said yes.
They also wiped out my wife's WAMU account...almost $1000. Looks like credit cards and WAMU are doing the right thing and closed everything. People are jerks. I bet they were Jazz fans. If I get a chance, charges will be pressed. Ziggy - That's exactly what I was thinking. It looks like we'll be ok.
Someone bought a Dodge Charger with my dads credit card and then over 10 $800+ purchases at stores like Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
How do you buy a CAR with a credit card? How does that work? Do they really just swipe your card and charge $20k or $30k, with no questions asked?
All car dealerships I have ever dealt with have a maximum amount they will put on a credit card ($2500 - $5000).
It's against Mastercard and Visa merchant agreements to ask for ID on a signed card. You are not supposed to get asked for ID if you card is signed, and Mastercard even has this website for complaints if you get asked for ID.
Nowadays you don't really even need to give the cashier your card. Just swipe the card yourself, and sign electronically.
Yea, my mom and my family can understand what how you're feeling. My mom's purse was left and stolen inside the ONLY Mcdonalds down in Key West. It was the last day of the vacation too, and she just barely realized that she had lost in time, right before we were about to cross the main Key bridge (that usually takes about 30 minutes to cross). So yeah, we spent the entire trip making calls to all 20 of her random credit cards, Kohl's card, etc. Funny thing is, we just got the purse sent back a couple of weeks ago-but no credit cards and money were left inside there
