So someone wants a copy of my resume in Word. I just got a new cpu with Vista and couple of months ago. I don't have the piece of crap Microsoft Word on here. I downloaded the trail but you can't save or copy paste etc. It was a complete waste of time. I hate that POS anyway.

Any ideas? I got Works on here but it says it cant handle my copy/paste selection it it isn't even that big. God this **** sucks.

Sometimes I just want to blow **** up.

I am trying to follow why you think Word is crappy... is it because someone asked you for a resumé, or because you don't have it on your laptop and can't make a resumé, or because your trial ended? Or... why do you hate Word, man?

I think it's OK. If you still use 128MB of RAM, I don't recommend it, though. :(

I am pretty sure you can get MS Word for a very low discount at your local school's bookstore or through your Help Desk... they can get you a copy cheaply. C'mon, man, it's notthe end of the world.

Office 2007 is awesome. I just make sure to save the file as a 2003 document instead so if I do need to send it to someone they can actually open it.

It's really is a lot easier

Well I have always hated Word. After using Quark and InDesign on a daily basis Word is like Paint after using Photoshop. It will drive you nuts.

I hate that people expect you to have it.

And if Works can't handle copy/past text of two pages of text then it's crap too.

I already have my resume a little html/email formatted and I just want to copy and paste it and keep the basic formatting. I know Word did that but I don't have it anymore.

I hate microsoft as much if not more than the next guy but for basic stuff MS Office really is a good piece of software. It's probably one of the few things that came out of Microsoft that I truly think they did a good job on.

Works is crap though. I'd get rid of that crap ASAP.

Just... relax, man. :( I don't want you to jump off a building just 'cuz Word '95 made your life miserable, yo. O.K.?

If you have always hated Word, it's no wonder you have prejudice for the 2007 version. Buy it or let someone let you borrow their laptop or PC to do your resumé, send it to the person/company that requested it, and you're done. They're not requiring for you to keep the darn installation on your PC. All they wanted was to know your skills and experiences in your previous work and your qualifications (do not add "Objective - to destroy Microsoft Word forever... muahahahaha" on your resumé, though).

Believe me, if you have a fast-enough processor and enough RAM, you will love MS Office 2007.

Quark and InDesign are NOT word processors, by the way... you're telling me you've driven a Hummer every day and someone made you drive a bus all of a sudden. :) Well, use InDesign and Quark to make your resume so it won't drive you nuts! (er, you can't make a Word Document in them, though, I know ;))

On the other hand, WORKS is intended for people who just want to create documents without sharing them with the rest of the world... most of its stuff is not compatible with other things, unless you do straight text. :(

Use what you like, man... but tone it down on the hate... it's really not good for you.

    Whew. I need a hug.

Outlook 2007 is garbage. You have to log in and lout out different identities for multiple mail accounts.

    Thank god for Thunderbird.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to go to Kinkos here by my house to copy/paste a formatted email (that isn't enough for them). Ridiculous.

:D That was my first reaction. People will "hate" stuff they don't know how to use...

Well, at least most of the time...

Well I have a Mac, so I don't bother with that garbage either. But Word, Powerpoint, Excel, they're all really not bad at all.

the ability to create e‑mail identities has been removed in Windows Mail. Instead, Windows Mail enables you to create separate Windows user accounts for each person who wants to use e‑mail on a single computer.

    Outlook is the same.

The new Excel is just too awesome. I know Mac commercial likes to make fun of spreadsheets in PC, but the new Excel makes me droo. Too bad it's gonna cost me 100 bux to get the basic office 2007, which I'm probably not going to be willing to do for a while.

Gotta agree... I'm digging the new ribbon, too. It's a pretty nice interface upgrade.

Man, that's chump change compared to what they used to charge.
