I was thinking of going to the galveston pier and try out my new 10" penn rod but now that you brought this idea I'll pull out my 30 ft northwesterner boat and drop a couple of cages 100 miles deep into the bering sea in luck of catching king crab

35 Years ago, we used to be able to put crab traps out overnight on the beachside and in the mornng we would have enough crabs to make an hors d'oeuvre serving for the crowd. But I haven't even seen a crab on the beachside now for like 20 years.

Oh wow, I think that's the pier where my family and I went to crabbing when I was a kid 20 years ago. We used chicken legs on a string to grab bait and pull in the crab then scoop them up with a net. We stopped going because it was getting harder and harder to get enough decent sized crabs. How is it now? Are there enough crabs to actually catch legally sized blue crabs?

Some smaller piers in Texas City you could go to.
