what do either of you guys think of the Dallas draft ? I thought it was a bust. Jerry reached for alot of players. He's a wise businessman, but his ego is killing the Boys. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." I think Quincy Carter as a 2nd round pick is the worst pick of the whole draft of any team. Markus Steele was a good pickup though. Doesnt matter, my Niners did awesome nabbing Andre Carter!!! ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
Jerry Jones needs to hire a real GM damnit! I am tired of watching them bungle their picks year after year ------------------
Thats what that Colts GM, Tobin, thought too when Kiper questioned his piick of Trev Alberts. Kiper was right. When you reach and take two players who you could have gotten on the second day with your 2nd rounders, especially when neither player meets your biggest need(Defensive Tackle), and there were several players who fit your need available. This was a crappy draft for the Cowboys. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
I love my Boys but Jones is a terrible GM. He is great as an owner but since Jimmy left the drafts always stink. Quincy may be a decent QB, and Mel Kiper makes it look worse than it is, but they could have waited nad used a 3rd round pick on him. I don't understand drafting a safety in the second either. I am afraid they may be working on trading Darren Woodson (4.5 mil salary I think). THat would kill me, I absolutely love Woodson as a SS. Steele is a decent LB who makes plays, he could be ok as well. Again it' snot as bad as Kiper says. If Kiper was as great as he thought he was he would be a GM, instead of a whiny announcer. But in typical JJ fashion it wasn't a good day by any means.
it sucked. Jones needs to give it up as GM, he is just awful. can't wait til the texans arrive. ------------------ snap crackle pop
Puied- But Kiper thought the Colts passing on Ricky Williams was a mistake too. I think he was proven wrong there. Kiper isn't all that he thinks he is. He does alot of research and like most popular TV guys he is confrontational which makes for good tv. Kiper also thought that 2 ex Buckeyes (Reggie Germany & Ken-Yon Rambo) would go on the 1st day, while they both went in the 7th this year. Guess they were the 2 steals of the draft. Nope they both suck and Kiper jusrt liked them not because of what they do on the field but how high they jump and how fast they are. You can't measure heart. Again Quincy Carter probably could have been had in the 3rd, but Jerry wanted to mke sure he got him. It wasn't a great pick but it won't end the franchise like Kiper implies (then again the franchise is already close to ruined anyways I guess).
Who cares if a player *deserves* to be taken on a given day? If you want someone, just try to draft them before anybody else will. There's no way anybody else was going to draft Carter until at least round 4 or 5. So, no matter HOW good the Cowboys may think he is... the 2nd round pick was a waste. Kiper, imo, is a decent appraiser of talent, but he's too arrogant. When the other draft pundits disagree about a player's worth, but many others think the guy's great... they won't label a particular pick a "reach." Kiper doesn't do this. About half the guys out there believed Leonard Davis should go #2. But Kiper claimed this was one of the worst moves of the first round. I don't think something can *truly* be a bad move unless it's pretty universally considered to be without basis. You may disagree, but it's not like the decision was without support. ------------------ I would believe only in a God who could dance. - Friedrich Nietzsche Boston College - NCAA Hockey National Champions 2001
I grant you Kiper's arrogant, and he's a little fixated on combine numbers and weightroom heroes, and I do disagree concerning Davis v Walker. I do not mean to imply that Kiper is a draft genius, he's screwed up enough times to discount that, but your post reminded me of the Colts GM trying to defend his soon-to-be-bust. I think he will be wrong on several things in this draft, but Carter isn't one of them. When its such an obvious reach like Quincy Carter, you can call it a wasted pick, especially when you have an enormous pressing need for defensive line help. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Kiper seemed to favor Kenyatta Walker over Davis....I think he's wrong. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Great job Jerry!!! You are the man!!! Drive that sickening franchise into depths of the NFL's worst teams!!! Go Steelers!! ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
