I can't talk to the UH fans anymore. It's over, what's done is done. Love your quote with Stoops. I know recruiting "may not matter," but we just stole another one from you guys. Check the Hornfans board.
All of my comments refer to recent history, including OU. I know that UT has spanked OU more times than you or I care to remember. As far as the A&M comment, it's totally relevant. Neither school is in the same conference, so it's not quite the same as '...losing the Ford account, not having the GM account...', but more like '...we'd like to have their business, but we'll do fine with what we have...' BTW, Miami begins a series with UH in 2004 I believe (hopefully, the now FR & RS-FR that dominate the roster will be that much better by then), UH goes to 'Mee'-chigan either next season or the season afterwards, and there are rumors about other programs like OU, ND, LSU, 'Bama, etc. There's still plenty of options out there for UH. Besides, there's no doubt that UT is a great payday, but UH doesn't nor should 'pay the rent' based on one game. UH needs to field better teams, play better ball, fire up the pathetic fan base (just being honest, and I'll start by pointing out myself), and just start winning. That's a far more stable financial plan than worrying about a few big paydays. Good luck UT. I would love to see a UT & Miami Fiesta Bowl.
Uh Kagy, I think your speaking of Live, not me. I havent talked about integration once in this whole thread.
And who are you talking about? And Stoops never says "recruiting doesn't matter"..... It obviously matters, but Mack Brown has proven that it's not everything
Not particularly. We're 8-3-1 against OU since I made the decision to attend UT. I can live with three losses every 12 years. Summitt-- sorry, got you mixed up with Smokey. S's.
Thank you Brian. So if I point out something UT blew in the past, I become a Cougar supporter? Not that there's anything wrong with it
not about UT but about their fans. also, yea that is a pretty adolescent post but hell isnt obsessing about sports in general adolescent, and when ur tryin to start a flame being logical or polite never really works. wanted to see what ppl would say about this thread, and i got exactly what i needed. to kagy.. you can whip ur d*ck out in front of as many ppl you want man..its a free world. yeah simkins was an all guy engineering dorm in the backwoods of UT. i think they're tearing it down or something. we had some fun starcraft games tho. finally, this is a bulletin board, this is recreation time for me so yea im gonna speak with my ebonics cuz i dont obsess over these posts and i only read them when im bored. smokey..ur a wannabe cougar man, stop hiding in the closet. tell me when ur done with midterms and we'll go barhopping.
Tim Crowder. All I know is that Mack finally gets to coach his players. 11 true freshman have played already. I can't comment on Mack being a game day coach. I think some of his troubles have not been his fault. With all the Stoops hype, he's only 2-1 vs. Mack. Better than 1-2, but not as daunting as some would like to think. If Mack pulls it out this year, we're even steven. 63-14, painful to type, was an anomaly, imo. I think Mack's gonna win it all within the next 3 years. With the way he recruits, I'm not sure it'll matter if he's a "bad" gameday coach.
You have no idea how long I've waited to hear that from someone on this BBS. Validation, at last. Thank you. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go surprise my co-workers.
But let me guess. All of these potential match-ups require at least 2 traveling games (e.g., where they face 105K Michigan fans to 3K Houston fans) to 1 game in Robertson, if any at all are agreed to be played there. It is a nobrainer for UH to schedule home and home's with either A&M or UT--and hold them in Rice Stadium or Reliant. Sure half the crowd will be for the opposing team, but so what? Is it better to get 25K paying UH football fans in Robertson and 5K paying from another school (Alabama, Michigan) every three to four years , or get 35K paying UH football fans and 35K paying Aggies or Longhorns for a game at Reliant or Rice every other year. If the UH AD or President or whoever put their egos aside they should not have let happen what they did last year, but they appear to have screwed themselves regarding UT. They better not make the same mistake with A&M. The only other "big" school other than UT/A&M I would think would consider is a home and home might be LSU--who also would do so to raid Houston area HS talent and bring a lot of fans. And if you think UT fans might swamp the Coogs fans, get a load of what 30+K stinken drunk rowdy-ass Tiger fans (I admit they put UT fans to shame) could do to make a road Houston game into a home game for LSU. Of course they do need to do the following. But UH actually found a big market team willing to play them in a home and home. Do you realize how rare that is for a major conference school relative to a mid-major conference school? Most schools in UH's situation (like Fresno State, Utah, Marshall, Colorado State, Miami-just kidding Manny) who hope to be good and get some national attention realize they have to play competitive and sometimes beat major conference's teams at their place (because that is about only where the big schools let them play). UH needs to be a winner and occasionally beat UT/A&M to get the fan base involved. If they are not gunning for this (being a national player and instead focus more locally and play in a small stadium) that is fine and may even be wise, but don't pretend you have different aims.
Somehow, I don't think this quote will survive as a sig.... BTW - duke, You are out of control. It would sure look better and sweeter (to you) for you to wait until after the OU-Texas game before you start talking your smack. Talking smack now gives the impression that you are heavily worried about your vaunted Sooners losing to the Horns this season. So, shhhhhhhhhh....
Say this to me and no one else? These Texas fans haven't stopped talking smack since 2 years ago, and with no reason for it.
Although I have voiced my displeasure with some of the UT fans throughout this thread, I am confident of one thing. They will beat OU, I really dont have a doubt. I hope they do because I am looking forward to Texas/Miami.
Rule of thumb: most fans of established teams, or programs suck . They certainly suck when they are composed of frat boys on their eight beer by 1:00pm. I was at the Cotton Bowl at a Longhorns and Sooners game when both schools (or at least their football teams) were down in the early 90's and you would have thought Billy Sims and Earl Campbell were still in their heyday by the way all of their supporters strutted around. Gag.
I say this to you, hello, because this thread is Texas vs Houston , not Texas vs Oklahoma . And yes, I am getting more than highly annoyed at you popping in any thread about college football being the only one (I might add) that goes on and on about OU. Bully for you if you think that OU is that good; I believe that you let your team's play do your talking. So, you can keep being "obsessed" like Kagy says, all it is going to do is make you look foolish when Texas wins.
