I'm not going to lie, when the rockets got down big last night I switched the channel only because I thought Corrales & Castillo (lightweight unification bout, essentially) was going to be a good fight. I was wrong. It wasn't good, it was great, as in one of the best overall in recent years, and featured an amazing finish that will probably go down in boxing history. It was like a Rocky movie come to life. I won't spoil the ending if anybody hasn't seen it, but try to catch the re-broadcast on Showtime if you can (there should be one today and later this week)
I decided to watch Viva la Bam during the last six minutes of the game last night. That show always cheers me back up.
I switched channels once the Rockets-Mavs game became hopeless. This was an incredible fight with one of the greatest 10th rounds I've ever seen. Anyone else notice that after Corrales got knocked down the second time in the 10th, his cornerman, while putting in the mouthpiece, shouted at him "If you're going to f*cking do it, now is the time!". Then Corrales comes back and pummels Castillo to end the fight. Un-freaking-believable.
Showtime (SHO-X, channel 480 on Houston area Time Warner digital cable) is rebroadcasting the fight at 7PM our time tonight. If you get Showtime, enjoy boxing, and didn't watch this fight last Saturday, I highly recommend it!
