well... thought of a change of pace by going to this place on shepard called kenally's (or something like that) on shepard in the river oaks area instead of stack's place. it's pretty cool. much smaller and more intimate, but only a couple of tvs. anyway, i was watching the game and some rich dude came up and started talking bball with me. you could tell he kept up with the standings, stats, etc. then talk gravitated towards what we do for a living (work, life, and stuff), and basically life. dude completely distracted me from the game, but it was good conversation. nothing really about this thread except that it's good going out and talking with people who know stuff about basketball other than who plays for who and stuff. could have done without the talk about "getting some vagina" though. oh yeah... if you're a member of this board by chance, thanks for the beer, hommie. well, have any of you gone out to a bar or anything and talked rox bball with someone and wondered if they were a member of this board, but didn't ask?
Mystery man: Yo Omega: Hello there. Won't you join me for a beer? Mystery man: Where are you live? Omega: I live here in Houston. How about you? Mystery man: I live with the ladies! I need get some vagina. Omega: Hmm.. I can do without that "getting some vagina" talk. Mystery man: It summer. People suppose get horny! Omega: I guess. So what do you think of the Rockets this year? Mystery man: Yao is the man! This barstool not very forfotable. Omega: That's too bad. Mystery man: I move over out of bar to buy new socks and cereal. Bye. Omega: Call me.
Ahh Kenally's. Memories of a band of BBS members stalking Rudy T after the Barkley ceremony come rushing back.
We had a couple or just one BBS get-together over there! Damn fine establishment with even better pizza!! I love Kenneally's (I just don't go very much)...
I don't have a hoop buddy. I tried to get my wife into watching the Rockets, but she doesn't care about it. So, I tried to get my daughter into watching the Rockets, and that was okay for a little while. She likes to say the names Yao Ming, T-Mac, and "Mikembe Motombo" (she says it in the best raspy, deep, cookie-monster voice a 4-yr-old girl can muster). But, after about 5 minutes, she wants me to go play hopscotch with her. -- droxford
We can let the girls play while we watch hoops before I move to the burbs. Don't you live in Timbergrove?
Girl who turns 5 in July and a son that just turned 3 this month... and a wife that puts up with my Rockets addiction but tries not to fuel the fire.
Sounds very familiar! My girl turns 5 in June. Well, hell - we gotta do a get-together. When and where? ...email me (this works) -- droxford
You have email thru the board turned off. You can reach me at mike<at>mbarker.com weird I hit quote before you did your edit but the quote picked up the edit.
when i was in toronto during spring break, i stayed at this cheap hostel place, international hostel. met this cool german girl in the tv room. came in hoping no one was there, cos i knew there was a basketball game on. came in, saw a girl there, and thought damn, no chance, sat down anyway and it was the game. the first thing i said was 'you're watching this?'. lol cos it was hard to find canadians who like basketball. we talked about our favourite teams and players, hers was naturally dirk nowitzki and the mavs, but she also liked allen iverson and thought hakeem was a great, humble guy. we also found out thet we're both going to the same game later that week at the air canada center, raps vs knicks. did the whole after game bar thing before heading back. her name was something like marha reckha also a few days after that, during a tour of niagara falls, met this brazillian guy, also a basketball fan, going to the same game. saw him at the game too. raphael. so basically, a malaysian, a german, and a brazillian, meeting in toronto canada to watch vince carter vs stephon marbury and moochie norris.
