    Hi,

I am a chinese. I am yao's fan and as a result I become a fan of rockets. I am also very excited about yao's recent performance. But the next things i see in the forum is that yao's the best player in the team or first option of the team. Cool down please!!!! He's just a rookie and played 10 nba games. I am worried that it would develop some bad blood between the fans or even the players.

I visit the lakers forum and they are arguing everyday about who's best between shaq and kobe. And when I visit knicks forum and they are always arguing about spree or a. huston is their best player. I just think that it's ridiculous and waste of time. We cant afford that as we are just a young team with bright future. Yao is obviously an unselfish player and a humble person and he always stated that he is still learning the game. Please give him and the team some time to develop as a TEAM.

And to my fellow chinese fans, I saw some comments that they are happy with yao's outstanding performance even rockets lost. Please respect that this is ROCKETS forum and we are here to share opinions as ROCKETS fans. We all should develop the love with rockets and i think it would be fun as a fan of such a young talented team. As long as rockets is successful, I think yao must be one of the key reasons.

    GO ROCKETS, GO YAO

Great post man, welcome to the board. I completely agree with you, we all need to stop getting angry over every loss. The Mavs are 12 and 0 for a reason, they are the best team in the league right now. I think we could become just as good as them later in the season or next season. Instead of people waiting to see that happen, they already want to trade players and change things. The Mavs had to wait many years between the last time they made the playoffs and this team making it 2 years ago. We are going to make the playoffs this year, there's not a doubt in my mind, but people need to COOL DOWn:D , and just relax.

Welcome Dragon. I believe in what you stated. The Rockets will need to be a TEAM and not worry about who is the best player on the team. The Rockets will be heard from not only this season but many more seasons to come. I will enjoy every moment of watching a good team become a great TEAM. :) \m/

Dragon, I totally agree with your opinion. I was about to say the same thing.
If you are a true fan of Rockets or Yao, go to Mav's or Laker's
bbs to discuss who is the best player :) (just kidding - no intention to be offensive to other teams' fans).

BTW, like you, I become a Rockets fan b/c Yao.

The above is the Chinese Characters for our Yao Ming.
Sorry for those who can't display or read Chinese. I am not offending you. This is just to test this BBS's functionality.
Also, I would recommend (to our Chinese guys of course) not to use Chinese here.;)

Great post dragon. I became a Rocket fan when they drafted Elvin Hayes of the U, of Houston in the early 1970s. Elvin is long gone ...and Im a bigger Rocket fan than ever before.
When Yao Mings career is over, you will still be a Rocket fan...One goes with the other.

    That's funny.

You're a Rockets fan because of Yao Ming. I'm a Yao Ming fan as a result of being a Rockets fan. Yao had a great game against Dallas despite our loss. As long as he keeps on working hard, the future of the Rockets looks very bright!

Dragon167, this is exactly what I want to say.
I am a chinese too, and I saw last night there is somebody claimed he is a chinese and said that he felt as long as Yao is being successful, he doesn't care about Rocket's win or loss. First of all, as present in many other chinese bbs and forums, I have to say that we do felt very bad about losing the game, and we all believe that Rocket will become an immense force in this league. It may happen this season, it may happen couple of seasons later. But we all have trust in Rockets and hope it gaining success in NBA just like Yao does. I believe Yao is not a selfish player (or any other Rocket's player) and I think most of chinese supporter of Yao fully supports Rockets as well and not simply wish just Yao to excel. I believe that a team will not go anywhere with one player. If Rocket is to win the title, everybody will be part of it. SF will be important to the success of Rockets. Yao will also be an important factor. But Rockets will not gain success by just Yao himself.
Enough said, I wish some Yao supporters understand that we are all part of a team, and only a team will make championship to happen.

It's very refreshing to hear posters who have the overall big picture that The Rockets are a team first made up of great players second. I sometimes feel too, that what if Yao blows it the next few games? Are the haters gonna change their minds back again? It's a ridiculous process. Yao came from a team first mentality and that is part of what makes him great. We as fans should understand that and maybe even take a lesson from it. :)

    Totally Agree...

I am also a Chinese myself and I was totally disgusted about the fact that there are some Chinese folks who are exploiting this bbs forum and show how "good" are Chinese people and/or culture, making the mood that all other people in the world have to bow down to China. This is just wrong... if you wanna do this, then please do this somewhere else instead of doing it here...

And regarding to that post where a Rockets win or loss does not matter as long as Yao Ming performs well, that poster has no heart for the Rockets and will immediately follow another team if Yao Ming is traded (which is highly unlikely after the Dallas game)...

Even though I don't quite like Stevie Franchise cuz of the whining about being originally drafted to the former Vancouver Grizzlies (and I live in Vancouver), however it was Yao Ming and especially Hakeem Olajuwon that converted me into a Rockets fan...

For all other Chinese fans, please stop being cocky about Chinese culture and being Chinese... this is a forum where equal folks come here to discuss, not to brag...

Remember, it was the over-pride from our people that led to the downfall of our motherland from 1841-1943... pride yields to ignorance!

The ultimate measure of a great player will be whether he can bring his team wins, and championship, so all Chinese Yao fans SHOULD be a rockets fan and root for the Rockets.

Glad to see cool-head Chinese fans grow in number on this bbs. Enjoy folks.
