Though this is a "real" word - it is used mostly out of ignorance and illiteracy. :)

Nowadays, I hear and see this word used frequently on TV, radio and in public cyber discussion forums as a serious form of vernacular expression. Where did it come from? Some say from "backwards" but how is it that current college kids (including graduates) now use it. The correct term I believe those who use it intended is "converse". [please correct me if I am wrong here]. Interestingly there is website called conversate.org but you will not find this word in most dictionaries save for urbandictionary.com and similar.

Another one is "invite". This is a real word but often misused. An example: Mr. & Mrs Clutch sent out an "invite" to all Houston based Clutchfans.....

I have heard ESPN's Boomer use it that way. Instead, the appropriate word for that purpose should have been "invitation". [correct me if I am wrong here as well]

What are other words people use indiscrimantely you know or understand is being used incorrectly or they simply do not exist?

PS. I am not great in English; I am still learning every new day - I just see this as another opportunity for me to learn as well. Cheers.

I think "conversate" is more of a slang term, I hear it on BET all the time ;)

damn, and i thought i made up this word 5 years ago too...

it's mostly out of laziness. nouns becoming verbs are quite common nowadays.

I don't like terms like "birding" or "scrapbooking". I refuse to use them.

    Most words are made up
they become 'real' words through use

hell I remember when AIN'T made it into the dictionary

    Every year words are added
that some folx parents told them wasn't 'proper' english
