you are becoming a very good sports town!

IMHO Houston is by far the best Sports town in the South much better than Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Phx or any other sun-belt town.

Back in the day folks only b****ed about the Oilers and just sat by and cheered on the Rockets and Stros when things were going good now days Lidge and other Astros get booed. As good as the Rockets have been through injuries folks still are weary of T-Mac's not getting out of round 1. Everywhere I go folks talk about the Texans and the NFL draft.

Things have changed for the better, we have a mass amount of people moving back into the city core and with our new venues all in town we seem to care more as a city. I have been to towns up north and we have the same element starting to happen here.

Houston, the goal is championships so lets ditch this "good guys" crap and start/keep demanding results.

Fact, Rockets=NBA title or bust same goes for the Stros (world series or bust)

Texans are still a new team but results must happen ie. a wining season this year, playoffs by next.

Houston no matter what Drayton tells you about being "mid market" you are a LARGE MARKET, let's demand results.

Go Rockets, Texans, Astros and even the Dynamo needs to be mentioned hell they are a champion.

Right or Wrong cities are identified by it's sports franchises as much as it's industry and culture. Time for us to embrace being big time.

My dream would be for all the teams to hold championship at the same time think about the civic pride.

If someone is not on board make them feel dumb. We need to make these sporting events the center of attention at bars and throughout the city. An event that folks can rally around either in good times or bad

i'm not trying to be intentionally argumentative...but Houston is big time, whether the teams here win or not.

For every David Carr and Brad Lidge we show we care. Hey New York style baby, if you produce you get love if not you get run.

    you're right.
if you ask anyone who Charlie Kerfeld is, no one knows. But Brad Lidge, he's in the MLB highlight reels forever!
No one cared about the Texans until they passed up on some dudes in the draft.

Any publicity is better than none.

So you're saying we're becoming Philly of the South?

I went to the Sunday game against the Cards, and even Club section fans were booing and many stayed all the way until the end JUST to let management know they ain't happy with Lidge or the overall performance of this club.

I thought that was awesome! My motto is "boo or cheer, at least you are here!"

Oh, btw, the food at MMP can not be fit for human consumption...where do they get that junk? It's even worse than last year's, I am afraid.

Max, don't let your kid eat that stuff...

Booing a lack of effort or poor sportsmanship is one thing, booing performance is bush league.

Your right on your first two points but your dead wrong on the third.

Booing Brad Lidge the first week of the 2006 season after a bad 2005 postseason would of been bush league. Just like the idiot who threw Beer on Carr's wife at the end of the 04 season but booing consistant bad performance (lidge-carr) is not only our right but our responsability.

These guys get paid a huge amount of money to perform and us as fans contribute a great deal to their saleries with our season tickets and team gear sales. If they are playing like crap we have all the right to voice our displeasure.

Question, if the Astros/Rockets/Texans are playing like crap are we suposed to just sit there with no emotion and take it? Only able to cheer when things go well? Now I think it's BS if someone want to cheer an injury or a cheap shot foul but booing your home team shows you care.

On 97.5 the other day, Garner said that fans have a right to boo Brad Lidge. He said that he's glad, because that means that the fans have high expectations.

    Booing works.

I booed the crap out of Juwan all those times he was building a brick castle at Toyota Center.
Now he's decided to stop bricking.

    see.
