So I Reformatted my computer a couple weeks ago and the computer cannot read the connection from the modem. I have the wire plugged in and when I check the network connections, it is blank. I first did it through my router so I thought that was the problem but then when i connected the modem directly to the computer it still didn't show up. Help please?

Are you using a network card that is built in to your computer or are you using one that you put in a PCI slot? Sounds to me like you are missing your network drivers, and if that's the case, the drivers are probably sitting on a CD that came with your computer.

Also, when you plug in the wire to your computer look to see if you see blinking lights where the connecter plugs in to the port.

But since you recently reformatted, most likely you just don't have your drivers installed for your network adapter.

That's probably it. Do you know what the name of the driver would be. I've tried looking for it but can't find it.

What kind of card do you have? Just get the manufacturer and model number and go to their website from another computer and download and save the drivers to a removable storage then install on your computer.

LOL, nobody can know what your card is remotely. Did you built your computer or did you buy it off the shelf? If you bought a brand name computer, then look for the model number on your computer, then look up which ever company's website for that model. They probably have a download page for all the drivers for that model.

If it's a dell, is there a service tag on the back of the computer? It's usually a 7 character code with a barcode next to it.

In that case you need to download a modem!
