Age Of Mythology is kind of like Age Of Empires but with heroes and mythical creatures you can choose. Plus it has god-like powers you can get to wreck havoc on a opposing settlement. Its management system is pretty easy and the emphasis is on battles. It also has some nice 3d graphics and 3 different mythos-Norse, Egyptian and Greek all with specific pluses and minuses. I really like it.
I dont play many PC games, I have a PS2 for that...but I love Diablo 2. Its just such a fantastic game.
I'm going to pick up System Shock 2, but so far I've had no luck finding it. I've enjoyed scary games such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil...although RE isn't all that scary to me. I bought all of my stuff either at Fry's Electronics or over the 'Net at newegg.com (except for the case, which I got at Directron). Pentium 4 2.4 GHz 533 FSB - $199 (note that I got the boxed version with the Intel heatsink....fortunately the stock Intel heatsink did not have a thermal pad attached to it, so I was able to get good cooling [37C idle, 49C load] with it, Arctic Silver thermal paste, and some decent case fans.) ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB AGP 8x - $349 ASUS P4PE motherboard with onboard 10/100 LAN - $119 (got the cheapest version; there are other P4PE boards with Gigabit LAN, Serial ATA, etc.) Western Digital 80GB Hard Drive 7200 RPM w/ 8 MB cache - $139 (plus a $40 mail-in rebate, resulting in a net cost of $99) Corsair XMS 512MB PC2700 DDR-333 RAM (one DIMM) - $189 Along with the cost of my Antec TruePower 430W power supply, SB Live! 5.1 sound card, Chieftec Dragon case, etc...I think I spent around $1250 or so building my PC (not including software and the OS, which is Windows XP Pro) Note that I got all of that back in mid-late November, so the prices on some of the parts may have dropped since then. Heh, Daikatana. One of the worst games I've played in recent memory.
