So I am taking a computer forensics class this semester and we have been assigned groups and all groups have been assigned the same case to work on. It is a simulated kidnapping and we have been given a hard drive image (.iso file) to look at and explore for evidence. We have a computer lab set up just for us and a computer for each group as well. On the computer we have FTK Imager and Access Data. The professor has also told us we can use any other tools we have or can acquire as well.

So what I am asking is do you guys have any suggestions for decryption, steganography detection, or any other type of software that can assist with this case?

I will try to post some more stuff when I get home to my laptop. I took a class in Incident Response at CMU, and we did some computer forensics stuff. I have a whole bunch of tools and stuff that I can point you to for information.

I'm going to just take a stab at this, and recommend "grep."

Plain text strings are your friend.

I think he meant to post this in the topless sports new thread. If I was Vietnamese, I would be very very proud of her. Then again I'm not. I'm just a village idiot.

What is Encase? Could it be useful in assisting my group with our task at hand?
