That is kind of hot. I'm assuming that the temperature with no cpu intensive programs running, right? What thermal paste did you use? How about Heatsink? Brand and model? If that really is the idle temperature it is likely an overheating problem.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Vengeance. I received the fans Saturday and installed them today. My CPU temp with fan before this one = 150 avg. My CPU temp with the new fan = 95 avg. A freaking 55 degree difference. SHEESH!

I don't know yet if that was the prolem but we'll see.

    THANKS AGAIN!

turn that piece of crap off.....damn windows firewall is aworthless POS.

    Pun...

fantastic...I think you should see a improvement in stability with the processor running where it should be temperature-wise.

I'm going to tack my question in this thread rather than starting a new one.

This has been driving me nuts - my Windows audio control on my computer regularly turns itself all the way up. I can't figure out what causes it. It first started after I reformatted my computer.

It does it every time I restart my computer, but it also does it randomly while the computer is running.

    try a experiment then....

turn off the windows firewall....and install Zone Alarm.

Icant say whether the spyware progrma is trash..I havent used it.

but remember.....beta means that it isnt finished testing for bugs...

and I have seen some programs that were churned out to meet the growing demand for spyware eliminators be done sloppily....just cause you can code doesnt mean you are good at it. ;)

stick with the major players in the spyware fight and you will probably see better results.

I would recommend uninstalling the beta program and seeing if it affects your speed.

    Another quick question:

We here at work have a computer that has Windows 2000 as the OS. A lady, who no longers is employed here, used the computer and has an account setup on it. We have been unsuccessful in trying to contact her and we cannot figure out the password she used. The computer hasn't let us into Windows yet. Is there anyway to get Windows to come up or override the password or something where I can delete the user account or something period. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. One more question. It's a Dell Dimension 2100 with a Celeron processor and 128 MB of RAM. I want to upgrade it through Crucial.com with 512 MB of RAM and a 200 GB HD, problem is I do not know the type of motherboard the system has. Another thing, a Dell rep told me that RAM or other parts wouldn't work and suggested I send the computer in to be fixed by Dell experts. I can do it through crucial.com cheaper though, so was that statement even true? If not how do I find out what type of RAM will fit into the mother board on the Dimension 2100 I have. Thanks gain.

I doubt that.....they are tryin to get you to send it in so they can charge out the wazzoo for a simple upgrade.

Packard Bells and Compaqs used to be bad about that...they used non-standard parts so you had to buy from them(they dont anymore)...but to my knowledge Dell doesnt do that...

check the memory upgrade selector at crucial or kingston and see for sure....you should be able to punch in the manufacturer and model and it will tell you what you need.

btw....re: lost password....is there a administrator account setup on it? if so you shold be able to log in and delete the account....or check with miscrosoft.com about using the recovery console.

DOnt have the time right now to scout up links for ya...if you have trouble finding it...Il ltry to help out more later after work.

Thanks R2K, there was an admin account and I got in that way and deleted the other account.

I did the search on Crucial and the RAM for a Dell is a bit more expenisve than other. A stick of 256 MB for a Dell Dimension 2100 is $92. My sticks of $256 MB only cost $44. It states that it has some type of special chip in it though so maybe that's it. Thanks for your help R2K.

    Let me interrupt here...

Head over to NewEgg.com and get an NEC brand DVD burner there (around $65). Then, head over to The Pirate Bay to get Nero and DVD XCopy Platinum. And, if you can't find cheap media locally, get it from SuperMediaStore.com.

You must be using DVD Builder from Roxio. This program comes bundled with your DVD writer, doesn't it?

You will still get GOOD quality even though the program shows a RED light for not recording it well. I have used this one before with video from my camcorder, and the quality on the DVD image is near what I want it to be... not BAD at all. Continue...

Usually, you want videos to be 320x240 or bigger in dimensions, but file size also depends on quality of video... I can't get mine to come out perfect as the CamCorder displays it on my tv, but as long as I put them on DVDs I'm ok. I will try the DELIRIOUS one to see if it looks OK... I already have RAW on DVD, so I won't do that one...

What were those programs that people were recommending to change video formats from avi to mpg and others as well?

If you have AVI, the DVD program should do it already for you. I'd use those programs only if I wanted to save hd space

Ill work you out a step by step later today or tomorrow...Im working 12s till tomorrow....

those all in one programs dont do a good enough job for my tastes...if you want to do it right...you have to go thru a process...not slap it into a program and let it do the stuff for you.

Another question about burning, if you have two files that are the same movie how do you combine them so that they will all record together, is there a way?
