I have a problem with my pc. If i start my pc he doesn't recognize my cdrom and cd burner. So if i go this computer i can see my harddrives my other diskette station. but my cdrom isn't there. I have tried to see if the wires are loose but that is not the case. Also if i start my computer and he recognized them at the beginning he works. But if i turn my pc off, i do not know if he recognize them when i turn my pc on again. It is getting worse. Does anybody know what the problem is.
(i hope you understand it is difficult to explain for me in english.

    thanks in advance

Goto Control Panel->System->hardware->device manager. Is there any X or question mark icon?

I just re-read your first post. So the problem is CD can't be detected at boot up at times? Maybe you can try changing the IDE cable if you have a spare around or changing IDE slot for your CD drive?

I fixed a similar problem on my PC after changing the IDE cable.
