Hi fellas? Has anyone here taken the exam? I just bought my exam voucher, and am anxiously waiting to take the exam soon. Is it difficult? The main reason I am taking is because my college professor has told us that if we pass the exam we get an automatic A, and we don't have to attend class anymore. How bout that
Did you study and take some practice exams? If yes...it should be easy...if not it maybe hard even if you know the subject...thats just how Comptia tests are.
If you're just taking the test to get an A in the class, then fine. Just FYI the + exams (Security +, Network +, A +) do not hold much value in the IT field. They are viewed as entry level exams that can be passed fairly easily for anyone with experience in that field.
Having any type of certification no matter how easy it is to obtain looks good on your resume and potential employers take note of that.. Also A+ in particular is a very nice cert. to have...its easy to get and many companies that deal with that subject look for it. Many helpdesk, computer support and other IT related positions state that either A+ is required or its a plus if you have it. The company that I work for pays you extra if you have A+ and moves you to a diff. job title. So there are advantages.
Microsoft will take the Comptia tests to either substitute or as electives for their certifications. Details are here
Yeah, I've seen that for the MCSE 2003 Security track you can substitute one of the tests with the Security+ exam. Great info man.
HI guys, I'm back with another cert question. I passed my Security+ exam on Friday and am stuck on what step should I take next. I am contemplating on taking EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) exam because this is the path I want to take. Or start on MCSE: Security which I will pursue eventually. Which holds better value to take on first? Thanks, -jmejia
Please don't take the 'Certified Ethical Hacker' exam. It is just a scam for the security company that runs it to make money. You already have one cert, that should be enough. Now just actually go out and do security stuff and make sure you know comp security and can rock interviews. Then you will be fine.
Thanks man, I really did not think about that. I just wanted to learn techniques and such and have a first hand understanding of how the hacking world works. I know the basics as you can tell with my new cert, but I want to dive into the mechanics of creating a logic bomb, worm, virus etc. Thanks for the advice though.
