I've been on comcast now for almost 1.5 months. The past week the internet has been dropping frequently.

I've hardwired directly to my router (linksys WRT54G) to see if it's only my wireless and I get no feedback when I ping. I doubt its my router.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Comcast modems?

I'm currently renting a modem. Will probably try to switch it out.

    any feedback is appreciated

check on the comcast website (sign in to your account) whenever that happens to make sure there's not an outage in your area

This happens to me every summer. Welcome to Comcast. I mean Xfinity. As if changing the name is going to help if the customer service and the service itself are still equally as ****ty. Buys them time though, I guess.

Mine is pretty damn consistent and I am VERY happy with it. We just got X1 at my house (their new boxes and service) and it's awesome. I think it really just depends on where you live.

I used to think Comcast was decent in Houston and had one of the better plans, but I could rarely stream HD video without issues. I moved to Austin and got one of TWC's lower plans and it streams HD no problem. I have no clue why that is..

Comcast also used to go out about once every couple weeks, but it usually wouldn't last very long.

Oh man. This also has been happening the last month. It would happen. Then go away for a few months, and then it does it again.

Comcast, you are a ****ing piece of ****.

It happened once this last week but other than that I get hd streaming on Netflix and I can game while my wife is on the Internet. I also pay for the next step up from basic and get speeds around 10 mb per second download fairly consistently. I haven't tried uverse. Maybe when my deal is up.

It just did it again. Went down for about five or ten minutes.

Was in the middle of doing work.

I'm paying too much for this bull****.

Never had any real issues with TWC/Comcast to complain about over the last 11 years. Happy with the service. I guess it just depends on your area.

It was on and off intermittently from yesterday to this morning, very annoying.

I hadn't had too many issues with them in the past 3 years but the last few weeks they would just intermittently go down for 5-20 minutes at a time. Very annoying when I'm trying to get my fap on.

I thought I'm the only one.

    Happens to my everyday.

I usually just restart the router and it comes back after a few minutes.

I don't even remember the time I restarted my Uverse router.

Maybe it's a good time to do it now after I clean it up because it's sooooo full of dust.

Yeah but it's hard to walk away from 35-50Mbps download. I know, I know... when it works.

Surprised no one has mentioned this. Just because you plugged in an Ethernet cord into your router doesn't mean it's not your router. What you should do is plug in directly to your modem and try to ping out that way.

Agreed. Comcast 105/20 here. No drops what so ever. Then again I don't use any Comcast owned equipment.

Those of you with problematic connections, check your downstream and upstream numbers for signal to noise ratio and power levels. Compare the numbers at the source (where it enters your house) versus where your modem currently is plugged in. You may have too many splitters, too few amplifiers, bad wiring, heat/humidity, etc. Also, Comcast changed my tap. Internet has been rock-solid since. *knock wood*

Down - between -9 to + 9 dB for power level; +35 dB SNR
Up - less than 50 dB for the SNR
