I'm looking to buy a combat game for my brother for Christmas, but I have no idea what games are good. Any suggestions? p.s. I'm looking for a military style of game for the xbox and your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Call of Duty. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 III Buy him Halo 2 if he hasn't already got it though.
Call of Duty got ok/decent ratings but I really liked it. Tom Clancy games are generally good - if i had to pick, I would get Ghost Recon 2. Full Spectrum Warrior is also a great game, I forgot about that one, it is probably the most realistic.
Bummer, the cut-scenes shown on the trailer looked pretty cool....dead-issue for me in either case, no PS2 and the game isn't going to be released, as of yet, on X-BOX
You wanna know the biggest disappointment I have so far in the X-BOX? 1) MGS Solid 2. It was a movie with 45 minutes of video game mixed in. I wish I was exaggerating. It killed that francise for me. Luckily I bought it used for $5 at EB games. 2) Enter the Matrix - pretty close second. After finishing it ince I went back to play the other character only to realize that they are doing the same thing! I think it diverges after 3 levels but who cares. Stupid. Again $5. Not that disappointed. Biggest surprise: Conflict desert storm. Grapics were a little cartoonish but any game that allows you to use a sniper rifle with actual physics when you fire (recoil makes you re-aim, head shots cause enemy to damn near flip backward as head explodes) is an A+ in my book. I played it a little different form the way it was intended. I would make the team wait while I would sneak forward on point and take out lone scout soldiers and then send the 3 man team in to fight bigger groups in waves.
Well, I have both X-box and PS2, but the ps2 is in the 17 yr olds room. What's a good combat game for ps2?
Metal Gear Solid 3 (though its probably got more stealth than shooting) is proably the best military themed PS2 game of 2004. Also Ace Combat 5 if aerial combat floats your boat.
If you're going by reviews sites (IGN, Gamespot, etc), I'd be leery of any of the scores given. Supposedly, the review copy they all got were like 20-30 builds prior to the final version and a lot of the problems they brought up in the reviews were no longer in the games...supposedly. I did read that some people online had no problems with the problems brought up in the reviews though, so maybe it was true. I never got a chance to play it so I can't really give any personal opinions. I remember a friend of mine saying he didn't like it so much, at least the single player part of the beta/demo (can't remember which). I told him that they were trying to get that Halo type feel and that maybe he should try doing some multiplayer. He later told me that the game was pretty fun, especially during multiplayer. I don't know really want to think about it until I play it, and I'm so behind in games I need to play, I wonder if I'll get a chance to play it anytime soon. The early reviews did seem to hurt the overall image of the game though, if those reports were true. I'm not a big military FPS player (mostly just Battlefield), so I don't have many suggestions beside those already given. Maybe you could give him a piece of paper with Battlefield 2 on it and just wait until it comes out. I saw a 16 minute clip of it recently and it does look pretty cool. MGS and AC5 would probably be excellent picks, IMO, really for any genre, let alone just some game with some military-esque combat.
I have Ace Combat 4 and it is AWESOME!!! I just broke it out again yesterday and killed some "Aces" I haven't seen AC5 around here though. How are the Call of Duty titles? My head hurts.
Medal of Honor Vietnam wins the award for best dialog acting... for the Vietnamese actors. I had a friend that came over that speaks Vietnamese and he said that the dialog was spot on, right down to the NVA screaming Du Ma! as they run at you. he he. Would have been a better game if they let you use the sniper rifle all the time, but that's just my preference. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7... Oswald was a ***.
