.ws should be another new one (although it's been around for a few months now)

don't forget ".to," ".tv," ".ws," and ".cc". I read in the paper today that they are considering a ".kids" too. Any others? Seems like I heard about ".biz" and ".pro" as well.

The new domains I've seen are .tech, .store, .info, .biz and oh yeah, .xxx. But you'll need a browser plug in becuase current browers can't access these new domains. Any clues if this is correct?

Actually .tv was the country code for the tiny, island nation of Tuvalu, in the South Pacific. The country, with a GDP of $10 Million, is about 1/4 the size of Disneyland. They sold the rights to the '.tv' high-level domain for $50Million, or 5x the country's GDP!!!

You can read about the sale here.

The new legitimate top level domains are '.biz' '.info' '.name' '.pro' '.museum' '.coop' and '.aero'. These will work without a plugin. If you need a plugin, what happens is that their plugins redirects you to their dns thing.

Sorry... yes, .aero is for the air-transport industry. The naming of this top level domain is controled by Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques SC, (SITA).

The body which controls this stuff is called ICANN or "The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers". You can read about this stuff on their web site here

BTW '.ws' is the country code for Samoa(wtf?), '.cx' is for the Christmas Islands(lol), '.to' is the country code for Tonga, and '.cc' is the country code for some place called the 'Cocos (Keeling) Islands' that I've never heard of before in my life. It seems that these South Pacific countries have little need for a top level domain. Who'd of thunk it?
