So my brother got some old 8mm film converted to video. Here is a trip to Colt Stadium from 1962. There is no sound. Notice that Max Stassi's grandfather closes out the film clip.

I’ve heard stories about Colt Stadium from my great uncle and dad.

Basically told me it was a terrible place to watch a game in July. Stories of snakes and homeless people and Astros players drinking in the parking lot after games.

Last I heard the stadium was still being used in Mexico.

I have a memory of sitting in an enclosed area and they had an all you can eat buffet where I feasted on fried chicken. But I was 4 at the game in the video, so I am not too confident in my 4 or 5 year old self remembering stuff.

I’m sure it was a lot of fun. My elders complained about Colt Stadium but they went a lot and the players were easy to interact with. The reality is, it was a minor league stadium with a new club that wasn’t really a big league type club until they went to the Dome. A lot of good memories I’m sure. I have a lot of good memories of the Dome as a kid. Working for the Astros at MMP for several years gave me an appreciation for MMP....rats and all.

    Save the Dome.

Houston lacks greatly in historical landmarks.
