What The USA Basketball Men's World Championship Team Is Saying ... Day 6 of Training Camp

    Oakland, California / August 20, 2002

    Nick Collison

On his experience training with the team:

"It's been a great experience. I get to learn from some of the best players in the world and the most experienced players, guys like Reggie (Miller), Antonio Davis, guys who have been in the league a long time. It took me a little while to get use to it but I think I'm doing a lot better the last couple of days. At first I was just kind of floating and not sure of how to fit in. I've felt a lot more confident with how I'm playing the last couple of days. I've tried to go out and play hard and try and learn something."

What's been most surprising for you?

"I'm not too surprised because I knew it was going to be a huge step coming in. The guys are so strong and you've got to always be playing intense and hard or else they'll knock you out of bounds. I pretty much knew coming in that it was going to be like that so I'm not real surprised."

How do you think you'd match up with Yao Ming?

"I've never played against a guy that tall. If I get a chance to go in I'll see how I'll do. I'll just play him hard, but it will be interesting to see what it's like to play against a guy that tall."
