Pine: "You may fake a pass first....(in CHinese)" Yao (faked a pass and shot) Walton:"Sometimes you can't see the light of your life..." Pine:"I don't know what he's saying...(in CHinese)" Yao (smiled) Walton:"I'm glad you also realized that....You have to fight through all the difficulties...." Pine:"I still don't know what he's saying...(in CHinese)" Yao (smiled again) Then Walton became very happy and gave Yao a hug..... ******************
off topic a bit but, what if yao is not as witty as he seems. Many of his quotes are really funny, and sharp, but what if he is just saying something boring to pine, and then his job is to come up with something? I know its not like that but what if..
I think a few of his wittiest comments were made by himself in English. Probably Yao understood Walton but just did not what else to say, and Pine didn't have any idea how to translate at all.
Haven't you seen some of the stuff he said in Chinese news articles, than translated by fellow bbs members? They sound pretty witty to me. -G'day-
