I've only heard rumors about Baylor, haven't really studied into it since its a Christian private school. One of my friends go there and I haven't really asked him about it. UT has been on my radar for a while now. A&M a close second.
You're not necessarily wrong about the best schools in Texas argument. Though again, I really don't think Baylor is anything special at all and I also think UH has made huge strides in the past decade to establish itself as a top tier school. However, while you might not be wrong about the schools I think you have a pretty irrational view of the cost to benefit ratio of a bachelor's degree. It's simply not worth it to rack up that much debt undergrad unless the education is vastly superior. In state public school fees are great. If someone goes to Rice, awesome. Pay for that, it's completely worth it. Top tier ivy league schools? Don't even think twice about it and just pay. But schools like Baylor, SMU, TCU, Tulane? Do people outside of Texas (i guess Tulane since it's in Lousiana) even know those schools exist?
Baylor, only because of its football and basketball programs. Like I said prior though. Its either UT or A&M for me. Baylor is a non-option.
You won't get in....but good luck ...and if you do you may or may not finish. College isn't a cake walk like a 17 year old thinks espesh at "your schools" cough UT...so like I said a degree is a degree...but don't go majoring in COMM or ENG or JOURN, then your degree is worse than a degree ...oh ya or PSYCH. Good Luck 17 year old....and with ur attitude on here you'll go real far. Learn to ask advice, learn to not react or respond before knowing FACTS
That sounds like a good decision  Also, be open to doing something like a study abroad program your sophomore/junior year. It'll be completely worth it and a great life experience. But yeah, those schools are excellent, especially if you keep your grades up so you can get into a top class graduate school if you choose to go that route! And why is this third eye d00d having a meltdown lol...
oh ya I'm not mad Just don't think the OP wanted non - experienced people that say haven't even finished high school let alone a full college degree from a school you haven't even got into yet. I have a degree, I am an Economist ...I am happy bro happy to help the OP
You are starting off on the wrong foot with the arrogance. Each of those colleges will give you a different experience but the education you will receive from them are just about the same no matter if you go to school at UTSA, Texas Tech or UT-Austin. Force = Mass x Acceleration can only be taught in just a handful of different ways...No one has discovered different organelles of the cell. The only subject that is changing by the day is History. BTW Proud Roadrunner here attending medical school with kids from Brown, Berkley, UT and others...Your undergrad options do not mean a thing. At the end of the day YOU have to put the work in.
I'm not I gave all that advice in what I have actually done...red redemption dood is acting as if the only colleges in TX worth going to just happen to,have the best and highest paid athletic programs minus Rice I was giving the op what he asked I mentioned study abroad on pg one And why is this third eye d00d having a meltdown lol...[/QUOTE]
thank you this is what I was trying to speak. People that have experienced and graduated college understand this now....maturity we r just here to help
I'm a top 3% student in my graduation class therefore I get in to UT automatically. I'll be double majoring in computer science and graphic design. Does that address your concerns? I'll keep that in mind. Although I was recommended to take a work study program in college instead. Also, do study abroad programs cost a lot? Or are they worth it financially? Thanks for the advice!
I was just assuming employers would display prejudice between a degree from say a smaller college than one from a large college. Especially if the merits of each student (one from smaller, and one from larger) are identical. I'm not saying going to UT is going to make me better than everyone that goes to a smaller school, I'm just assuming that the school's prestige will factor into it somewhat. Correct me if I'm wrong. This was an assumption I held for a really long time.
Congrats let's see if you get and finish your double major! Good luck and congrats at top three % you should def receive some scholarship Or grant money !
This isn't 100% true either. To be fair, there are many subjects where your school plays a huge factor in terms of material learned, internship opportunities, networking, research, even the quality of professors. Some examples are econ, finance, business administration, specific engineering programs that not all schools offer, philosophy, etc.. A finance major from Texas Tech might not get all the opportunities that a finance major from UT/UCLA would get. In turn, the UT/UCLA student wouldn't be privy to the same opportunities that a student going to Princeton would.
I would hope so. I've already got 20k saved up. UT in-state is only 10k last time I checked per year. Just got to get enough scholarships to limit my student loans to possibly only 15k. Also if I do well enough on my AP exams I could cut off a year from school entirely. It would be a miracle if I can escape college with no debt.
Also if you were smart you'd know my Alum UNT university of north Texas has the best graphic design program in TX and I believe the country. So just another two cents on why say those schools aren't the only ones
umm, I did not say that. I can see why you would think that, but I have no evidence that says anyone in this thread is GlenRIce, I was just equating the cf meme to the source of said cf meme. but you know he is around somewhere, people never leave this board when kicked, they just make a new account(until they get found out which always happens)
