i'm curious how much of a "team member" colin pine is? Does he have to do laps etc with the players? participate in any part of the training (tho obviously not the on-court drills unless as an assistant assistant-coach... a profession change once his time with yao is over???)? Does he "ad-lib" for yao every now & then (with consent of course )? have the players given him a nickname? "c-pine" (i said that already in http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45744 - an interesting thread btw)? I like the idea of "bonzai" as his nickname (playing on his surname, being under 6' tall and how tiny he looks with/next to yao)? what a dream job he's got! closet thing possible for a person with no chance whatsoever of playing pro-ball being part of the "inner circle" of a nba team! i so want to get paid to sit courtside at games & repeat someones sentences every now & then! ... can't believe i'm making a post about yao's translator (too much post university exam free time). is this what is was like in chi with jordan & the circus that followed him?
The only thing I want to know is who did C-Pine's dad know to get him that job. He is probably Les's friend or something. That job is almost as cool as J'Lo's nipple tweaker that someone posted about in the Hangout a month ago.
I noticed something about Colin Pine's translation during Yao's interview after the Laker game. His translation from English to Chinese was perfect, but from Chinese to English was not so good. It is weird. Normally, it should be easier for him to translate Chinese into English since English is his native language.
I didn't think his translation from english to chinese was that great. It was a decent literal translation, but the meaning and the way the question was asked was lost. Then again Yao was probably able to pick up on it.
