Only water for me please. I kicked my diet coke habit when I started the Atkins Diet and I'll never get addicted to them again.
I quit soda about 2 1/2 years ago (a New Years resolution I actually did!). Actually I have drank pop once, I went to a college football game and it was very cold. A friend had a bottle of Jack Daniels and a flask. No way could I drink it straight after drinking beer all morning and mixing it with water just didn't seem much better. Now I drink a ton of water. Occasionally if I need somethign sweet I will make country time lemonade, but no soda for me.
OT: Anyone try Dublin Dr. Pepper? I've always wanted to try it. I wonder if it's healthy or unhealthy for you compared to Dr. Pepper.
Well, other than the fact that it is the greatest soft drink on earth, it is made with pure sugar and no High Fructose Corn Syrup. I love them, but I guess other than being a little more "natural" I don't see any real reason they would be healthier. I would get some bottles of it ASAP just to have the experience of tasting a "true" Dr. Pepper. I'm not even a big fan of regular DP's, but I love Dublins. Hint: Don't buy the cans, only get the bottles....Ice them down super cold, don't waste one being just "chilled."
Drink nothing but water and veggy juice that I make myself. Periodically, since "everything in moderation", I enjoy a cold coke as a treat about once a month...I really do like it. RR
I usually don't drink any soft drinks while I'm in school. Since I've been working over the summer though, I've indulged myself a little. My mom keeps the little 8 oz. bottles of Coke in the house (she gets them really cheap...doesn't spend $5/6-pack on them). So I have one most mornings on my way to work. The rest of the day, it's water or iced tea. Occasionally, I'll have a little juice or diet ginger ale or something. You can't beat those little cokes though!
I remember my paternal grandfather (God rest his soul) used to tell me that drinking a lot of Cokes (like everyone in the South, every soda is a Coke, regardless of its brand...as in "What kind of Coke would you like?) would eat up my stomach. Needless to say, I didn't drink a lot of sodas as a kid. The thought of having one's insides digested by Coke was too horrible to imagine. I went through a phase where I drunk several sodas a day, but as a rule now, I only drink water, sweet iced tea and lemonade. We had Country Time lemonade mix in our MREs and lemme tell you something, nothing was better than a hot day in Camp Lejuene with some lemonade in the ole canteen! As for my children, they simply aren't allowed to drink very much soda. Only when we are on vacation and on their birthday or other special occasions such as Christmas do I allow them to drink sodas. With all that sugar and caffeine, my kids are as hyper as it is without that help! And all that sugar is bad for their health and teeth.
Man, I don't know what's wrong with me. That's the most I've ever said things like that. Next thing you know, I'll be saying I put cheesy balls in my mouth and then drink some water. Man, I love those balls. I didn't realize so many people drank a lot of water. I don't think I know anyone who does what I do. Then again, this BBS is a LOT more diverse than where I live.
Coke makes you live longer!!!! BEFORE 1900 no coke; life expectancy, about 46 years. AFTER 1900 After Coke has had enough time to modify the human DNA, life expectancy begins to climb. Even non-Coke drinkers reap the benefit because of the forethought of their parents to consume mass quantities of Coke.
