Anyone is the Coast Guard reserves, or any other armed forces reserves? If so, how does your full time job handle those 2 weeks a year that you have to go work the reserves? I really want to join, but using all my vacation to work for the reserves kinda sucks. Are some companies more willing to give you PTO to do this?

I think there is a requirement for companies to provide you leave without PTO/Vacation penalty if you are in the reserves.

I think it's a Texas Law that you won't be penalized...

How exactly do the reserves work? What does one on reserves have to do? Dedicate 2 weeks per year and 2 days a month? What are the benefits?

This is true for active duty. The question is, do those 2 weeks a year count as "Active Duty"?

I didn't actually read through all of this, but it's from TWC:
