Anybody ever sign up for the Gold Membership Plan for classmates.com? The plan lets you send "Classmates emails" to others, but not sure of all the details involved. Has anyone ever had success getting in touch with former friends this way? Thanks.

I was a decent site before they started charging. I imagine that not too many people shell out the cash for something like this so there are probably not many others from your particular school using it.

I had a membership and used it quite a bit. I found one of my best buddies who moved away to Michigan after 8th grade. He sent me a picture of me in my pee-wee football uniform-- leather helmet and everything!

Friendster works very well, since it's free. It's about 90% Gandees, 5% Asian, and 5% miscellaneous.

    ummm... what are Gandees?

I still use classmates.com to find out some information about people. Of course, I won't "go gold" and it's annoying how much they keep trying to get you to do that. I'm irritated that you can't post or read biographies for free anymore.

We prefer to take the name of the one who brought us passive resistance and ultimately the independence of India from British rule.

BTW, register for Friendster, you'll find tons of people from the past.

they should make a foester.com that way you can talk crap to people, and its all in good fun.

to be honest though i have used friendster and have talked to a few people that i havent seen in years. and a few girls trying to hook it up with mr.pele. :p

If yall liked Friendster, yall should really check out MySpace.com

Its more diverse than friendster. I have seen mostly Asians on Friendster, while on MySpace, i have seen a variety of people on there. Plus its more stable than Friendster. About half of my friends list is my co-workers and already found a few people from high school on there.

classmates.com is a ripoff IMO. I had been trying to get ahold of a long lost friend, saw his name on classmates, signed up for the gold membership because it said i could email him.....so I did. Next day, i recieve an email saying that my email had been sent and read.

    No response from friend.

About a month later, a mutual friend of ours spotted him out, got his number, got it to me and I called him....he never recieved my email from me.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I signed up at friendster and myspace as well, but found no personal friends. I will try out reunion.com, but the main thing for classmates is I know the people are there, it is just a matter of if they will get the email to their inbox or have to pay to get the classmates email at classmates.com.

Well I guess I'll have to go for the obvious and meet up with Gandhi.
