i guess mindless speculation that reflects poorly on the administration is true by definition.

in fairness you grabbed victory away from me by only a few seconds unfortunately.

it would be mindless if the whole thing was fake, and I was focusing on the disproval of negatives, like..e.g., not being able to rule out that something is NOT located in Syria.

This is a difference in kind. There's an ongoing FBI investigation complete w/indictments and convictions in the Dukester's case in which others were implicated, includign Dusty Foggo, 9 Fingers, and another who fits the profile of Goss to a tee (in fact, I'm not sure how many former Republican congressman, if any, fit the description and ran in the same circles as Dusty and ol'9 Fingers).

The news comes out that it's Goss, Goss resigns unexpectedly a week later, with it conveniently coming on a Friday PM, where this Admin loves to put embarrassing news historically.

    Mindless? Or not willfully blind?

Do you think Bush will give him a presidential medal like the last CIA director for a job well done in covering up Bush scandals?

Do you think there is still enogh balls and truth telling capacity in the CIA to take umbrage at the attempt to blame the CIA for the Bush's gang's lies to get us into war with Iraq. You know the game Rummy tried not too successfully to play yesterday in front of a real CIA guy with rectitude, the same MdGovern who used to be in charge of giving Bush I his daily intelligence report, so he wasn't about to take crapola from old Rummy.

nah! If it comes to it, I'm sure Goss would be happy with a pardon.

Anyone else realize it's Friday afternoon, the slowest part of the news cycle where unfavorable stories go to die? No way this is part of a planned shake-up... just refer back to Scottie's departure to see how a force out is handled...and what the heck would Josh Bolton be doing making recommendations on the CIA Director anyway.

    Hookers and bribes.

Also, it looks like the Watergate Hotel has been served with subpoenas...

Goss already did his job by eviscerating the CIA and running off the careerists for replacement by political apparatchiks.

to be fair weren't those the same careerists who didn't anticipate the fall of the soviet bloc, the invasion of kuwait, north korea's proliferation, and missed 9/11 - among other mishaps? i don't personally know enough about the replacements but i think there was a bipartisan call to turn over the CIA.

Sadly you still do not evaluate what an overdone thing a lot of the fear of the Soviet Union was-- nor how Ronnie Raygun And Bush I's massive corporate military buildup squander a chance to wean us off of the militariy-industrial tit. The peace dividend could have been used to solve the energy crisis and the healthcare crisis and other problems. Instead they hd a buch of toys around that they had to use in the Middle East.

Do you think Colin Powell has rested or been rehabbed enough to come from the bullpen to help out?

Are there any of the old indicted gang like Ollie North that haven't been brought back already to help out?

Glynch, you're a silly boy on so many levels. First, what does your rant have to do with the current discussion in this thread? Nothing? Second,
don't insult us by trying to play down the threat of the Soviet Union. Third, Bush I was the President that started the military drawdown, lol. Back to the drawing board.

Fine, the speculation comes out that it's Goss. If the initial report is accurate, in fact Goss is the only person who it could be, insofar as to my knowledge he's the only congressman/intel/defense comittee member recently turned high ranking intelligence official - and certainly the only member of this one-man club with links to Foggo, which are documented.

Honestly basso, you've said some silly things over the years but if you honestly think the Congressional hooker/bribe scandal in which he was implicated is not the cause of his unexpected, unexplained, impromptu departure - then I have a coke-free hooker to sell you.

First, you are the one who ithough it had something to with the present thread and brought up the CIA's error about the Soviet Union in an attempt to discredit them since you aren't too happy that they haven't been on board totally for your Iraq War. It was a couple of your posts ago in this same thread.. Look it up to refresh your memory.

Second your own earlier post suggests that the Soviet Union was not as strong as thought Third, only a militarist would view Bush I as being part of a great military draw down, given the Fall of the Berlin Walll and Soviet Communism.
