i'm going to need to see a larger sample of games to come to this conclusion. he has played well, if he can develop a nice mid range jumper and solid low block moves, i can definitely say that he is better than stromile. i hope someone can provide some toughness, defense and rebounding on the block, alongside yao.

He may not be better, but he certainly doesn't know it.

He looks pretty versatile at his size, was able to defend just about all the Bucks guards and fowards. Gave Redd fits when he drove in the lane (just jumped right with him, cutting off his path). I want to see a line up of:
    Alston
    Wesley
    Tmac
    Hayes
    Yao
at some point... not a starting lineup, but just at some point during the game.

I wish Chuck Hayes was 2-3 inches taller. Oh the Mavericks fans I would sacrifice to the Basketball Gods if my wish could come true. :p

Stromile is probably the more gifted basketball player-unfortunately he doesn't have the motivation or drive to take advantage of his talent.

It seems like Chuck Hayes is a really hard worker determined to get everything out of the talent he has.
Right now, until Stro gets that fire in his belly, I prefer Chuck Hayes.

Me too, but so far so good. 12 rebounds (3 offensive) in 20 minutes tonight. If Stro put up numbers like that, I'd be real excited.

12 rb/game is a starter stat. I would be happy if Yao can get that average. :)

I wanted to see how he fared against some teams with big 4s, he did ok in Detroit but he was outstanding today against Bogut and Magloire. Bullard mentioned it during the broadcast, Stro might have a hard time getting back into the rotatation. JVG is going to keep Hayes in the rotation until it stops working, beating a pretty good Bucks team at home and coming within one shot of beating the best team in the NBA, who would blame him.

Unbelievable that a kid with 3 games under his belt is getting all these raves about his game, the announcers in Chicago, Detroit and our own Matt and Bill were raving about the kid. Anybody know if the kid has a jump shot?

It's got to be that good college ball program of UK. Look at Head from U of Ill.

The guy is injured. He was playing well before the injury. Some of you guys dont even want to give him a chance.

Swift started to play well before he got injured. If Rockets want to compete with the top teams, Hayes and Baxter aren't going to do it. They are over-achieving, I just don't see they can do that well against the top 4 teams in the league. Swift, on the other hand, has the POTENTIAL to do well against the top 4 teams.

I do think Hayes and Baxter can make the 10-man rotation even when everyone is healthy.

See this is why the Texans should draft Vince Young....get some competition in there for Carr.

Same thing...Hayes and his hustle will push J-ho, Baxter, and Stro to play better.

Competition is a great thing......and having a player like Hayes who plays hard, ala Bowen, but can also play offense is WAY better than Ryan Bowen.

I loved the hustle and determination Hayes and Baxter played with tonight, what do the rockets do if they get most of their players back? Somebody is going to have to be released.

Not bad for a D-league draft that almost didn't make it into the NBA.

This ought to be a no-brainer for CD.

JL3 > Mooch. Much faster and knows how to run an offense. And he can only get better. Moochie is like a one-man team wrecker whenever he steps on the court.
