So how much does Chuck Hayes get paid this offseason assuming the CBA is unchanged.

    Here are some comparative contracts.

    Ronny Turiaf - 4 years 17 Million
    Amir Johnson - 5 Years 34 Million
    Drew Gooden - 5 years 32 Million

I'd still pay him the same as he's making now. Even if he came back, we'd still be looking for a center. He's a back-up, at best, and has no trade value.

He's not going to get a contract with any other team. We can sign him on the cheap.

I agree. Thibodeaux would love to have him.

Agreed, but no team would be willing to pay him more than $2.5 million per year. So MLE money is definitely not in Chuck's future.

Chuck Hayes will not get the MLE.. Chuck Hayes may not get the LLE.

He probably deserves it more than those guys but 6"6 power forwards who can't jump, (Even if they can do everything else) get little love from NBA dollars.

Fine by me. I'd love to make this guy a Rocket for life. Morey knows what hes worth. Guy is the heart and soul of the Rockets.

Players like him and Battier in the locker room make it a lot easier to trade for the Demarcus Cousins and the T-Wills of the world.

I could ABSOLUTELY see Chuck getting offered the MLE. He would be worth every damn dime, too.

I think we might get the "hometown/Gave him his first shot" discount though.

10m/4 years is the max we should pay for Hayes.

I think so. Any contender who needs some inside toughness would love to have him. Chicago, Miami, LA, San Antonio or Boston would definitely want him on their bench.

Every offseason he concentrates on something new and continues to get better.

Maybe next year he will come back a three-point shot!

So let's say Miami offered Chuck the full MLE in the offseason, would you then think that pat riley is an idiot?

If no one else is offering that money to him, then yes.

Chuck's my favorite player, but it makes little sense to overpay for a role player with limited upside.

MLE money to Chuck Hayes is an aberration, most probably more under the next Collective Bargaining Agreement.

SMH @ folks thinking no other team wants Chuck...

Tell that to the GMs of the players that Chuck has shut down completely.

I think Udonis Haslem is a decent comparison in terms of money.

I'd expect Hayes to get a 4 year, $20M or so offer, depending on how severe the CBA changes are. He's definitely tradable at that amount, but with the Rockets' frontcourt depth...

i think chuck will have other offers from contending teams but will sign with houston because i think morey will publicly say that he will match anything anyone throws at our free agents. Just like last season(this season)
