http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/solomon/rockets/6071355.html I hadn't seen this, but I am not positive that it wasn't posted. Luther already gets a pretty rough rap here, but he does have talent. If he can just utilize it in this system. I think he could be very successful. There always has to be a scape goat (formerly known as the Ryan Bowen syndrome) and Luther is it for this team. I also want to know exactly where he got his "Rockets did everything except send career highlight reels" from. He obviously couldn't get a quote, and it's likely that Luther was someone that Morey would have said yes to being part of a trade. But that comment is really unnecessary.
Anyone else starting to wonder if the coaching staff tells him this just to get him to work without the ball, as opposed to trying to dribble it himself?
When the only skillset you have is shooting the 3, you should not be surprised that your playing time is based solely on your ability to hit the shot.
He's best when he just goes with the flow and takes his shots and doesn't try to worry about "work to get something better for those guys." He looked great in that last pre-season game... DO YO THANG LUTHA HEEEEAAD!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't tell he's one of the best movers in our offense without the ball? To me it's pretty apparent. He just has major problems finishing in the paint (sometimes he finishes well), and/or making the right decision once he cuts and get the ball. He seems to have shown he's got more to offer this year, but he still does make bad mistakes. I hope he can really break out, especially since Brooks is out for a little here. Maybe he can come in and make a difference. I'm pulling for him for sure.
Brutal is an understatement, even for me. I've been so blindly pissed that he was my most hated player in the league by far. I even made claims that if we didn't have him we would have back to back titles. He's still on the block though, those DVD's are being processed as I type this. Hopefully they left off the playoffs. Best thing for him to do would be to not dribble the ball.....EVER!!!!
I for one, is rooting for Luther, hell I even have his jersey, loved his game ever since he's been there. I was pretty rough on him for his playoff performance but in the end, Luther Head's game is a bad match up with using him against the Jazz. Look forward what he brings to the table this season.
Luther needs to prove himself in the playoffs. He has proven thus far to be good in the regular season but horrible in the playoffs.
With Luther, I think he will turn his game around this season. I'm actually quite optimistic about him this season. He can shoot those 3's alright. Just don't dribble. If you have to, camp like Battier does. If he still struggles, then his 2 Mil exp + youth will fetch us something of value at trade deadline
Although I have hopes of Luther doing well this season, how many 6'2 (6'3 in shoes) SG with no PG skills whatsoever are there in this league??
We all know who Luther is at this point: A good regular season performer whose glaring weaknesses (handles, size and toughness) are exposed in the playoffs.
