I just got the HP Chromebook 14 from the Amazon Deal this week for $199. It's nice so far. Anyone else own a Chromebook or run Chrome OS?

    Any good apps?

there are no such thing as real chromebook apps. They are just web apps that have direct links in chrome. Chrome OS is just a browser.

I have one for he kids and it is great for browsing

I've only downloaded gmail offline and mightytext. While not chrome exclusive I love being able to respond to text messages and see incoming calls when my phone is in another room.

I just bought an Acer c720 last week. I love it and ive been using it more than my tablet. I hate how people dismiss it as being a browser only device, which is why it took me so long to pick one up, but I can see this replacing my desktop because I find myself doing the same exact things.

The only limitation is the screen resolution, but it's so lightweight, cheap, fast, and has a great battery life that I'm not going to complain about it. Had I spent more than $130 for it, I probably wouldve expected 1080p though.

I've been debating getting the 14 inch HP version, as the 11 inch Samsung I have is almost 2 years old now and really showing its age.

Let me know how your experience goes.

I don't think you can even get a 1080p screen in a laptop for $300.

Yeah I know. I'm just so used to having 1080p on both my nexus 5 and 7 that I've come to expect it on all my devices. It surprisingly makes a huge difference to me even on such a small screen. I read the new acer chromebooks will offer 1080p at $300 though.

Web Browsing has been pretty quick. I have an external drive and tried running a high def movie file and it works with no problem. Battery life is suppose to be really good, that's the reason why I got it. My regular laptop's battery sucks and I just mainly web browse on chrome anyways.

I have an old Samsung 11" ARM and love it. It fits inside my work portfolio and goes everywhere I go. For me, Chromebooks and "phablets" make tablets useless.

Don't use many apps. Google said earlier this year native Android apps will run on Chrome OS. Not sure how quickly this will happen.

I'm thinking about selling mine for $75-$100 and upgrading. I'm jealous over the newer models released this year. Would be nice to have 1080p.
