For all of you who have an actual, honest-to-God Christmas tree this year (as opposed to an artificial), don't for get to recycle your tree. It makes GREAT mulch or an erosion blocker on the beach or even a place for fish to spawn.

The City of Houston has an official tree recycling program. Here's the link!

Now that I live in Houston again, people look at me like a freak when I mention recycling.....

Why arent there more places to recycle? In Austin you get arrested for not recycling. All the apartments have bins for recycling, but it seems as though Houstonians dont give a rats ass about it.....

Im saving aluminum, plastic, and paper, but dont know where the hell to take it......

Let me know if you know.....

    Drewdog and anyone else interested,

the city of houston Consumer Recycling Center is at Westpark near Chimney Rock,
it's only a feeder road across from the inbound side of 59.
The entrance is on Westpark, next to the entrance for the dump trucks (don't go in that one)
After a few times they me gave a couple of those green recycling baskets for easier use. It's a drive thru service, they make it very easy, you don't even have to get out of your car.
Don't know if they handle Christmas trees though.

I would like to remind everyone that the Christmas season BEGINS on Christmas day. It runs 12 days, and January 6th is the start of Epiphany -- the day when the wise men found Jesus. I recommend keeping the tree up until the Christmas season is over.
