Not sure that I am fascinated by Wiseman but a 19 year old big that averaged 19 and 10 per 36 in a rookie deal and another lottery pick seems like great value for Wood IMHO.
It's not what he averaged but how he averaged those numbers. Wood is 40% from 3 while Wiseman is 30% from 3. Wood skillset fits Silas system much better.
And that may be. But Silas' system looks like $hit without talent and Wiseman plus a lottery pick would be an infusion of talent. If you think that Wood doesn't warrant that max contract in 2 years then that deal looks pretty good I think. I myself am torn about Wood and whether the Rockets should be looking to move him for younger guys under contract for longer at lower money.
Need more talent but team is not winning anything with core of 19 year olds. That is why timeline argument against 25 year old players like Wood and Tate is stupefying.
Agreed. But the rub is that a Wood-Tate led team probably isn't much more than an easy out for a contender in the western conference. That's why I have argued the Rockets need to be building Al ng two timelines. The Wood/Tate/Olynyk be decent now team and all the kiddos who can grow into prominent roles on a contender down the road
