correct me if im wrong but isnt wilcox a free agent after this season?? if so, should we get him? he seems like a versatile, strong hardnosed guy. something stro seems to lack at times. oh yeah, and he balled tonight. hahaha.
--------------------------------------------------- i hv the same idea, C.W. went into NBA the same year as Yao did. but i believed Clippers had extended his contract and then trade him to Sonics for Radmannovic. i hope i was wrong. nevertheless, we wont be able to sign him next season b/c Juwan's fat contract and Stro's being down in value.
is it the reason why he is giving 150% now? after signing a big contract, will he gives at least 70% thru out the season? something for deep thought.
Well 150% or 70%, I don't think the Sonics will let him go unless they can't afford him. He sure would be nice in a sign and trade. Get rid of Juwan and then don't play Swift until he realizes he needs that kind of intensity to be able to play...maybe it will work. I doubt they'd take Juwan for him, probably Swift and Head, I don't know...I would do Swift and Head for Wilcox and Ridnour/Watson. (Not that I have anything against Luther)
Not much different between Chris Wilcox and Stromile Swift this season. 2005-2006 Statistics Chris Wilcox: PPG 7.5; RPG 4.70 Stromile Swift: PPG 9.0; RPG 4.60
Wilcox is currently a restricted free agent. We have little shot at him, not only because the MLE is below his market value (I'd expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 years, 40-50 Million; somewhere between Adonal Foyle and Troy Murphy, for reference), but also if we somehow created cap room to offer him such a contract (ie, if the salary cap happened to jump ~$10 million next year), Seattle could just match the contract. And before anyone gets any smart ideas about combining trade exceptions and our veteran players to sign-and-trade, know that: YOU CAN'T AGGREGATE TRADE EXCEPTIONS AND PLAYERS, OR TWO SEPERATE TRADE EXCEPTIONS FOR ONE PLAYER TO MATCH SALARIES! Sorry for yelling, it's just that it's an extremely common misconception that bugs me more than seeing a misplaced apostrophe (The Houston Rocket's come to town...) Even if for some reason we happened to acquire him, I'd also be extremely wary, given that he's in a contract year, and has never put up anything close to these numbers before. The Clippers have actually done a pretty good job of evaluating their own talent and rarely overpaying their own free agents, so I'd be careful about picking up their trash.
I'm pretty sure The clippers offerd us Wilcox for swift, but we turned it down. no saying it was a mistake, but in hindsight, maybe should have done it. i still believe swift will get there.
I'll do a Swift and head for Wilcox and Ridnour or watson in a heartbeat. Both Ridnour and watson are better then alston and wilcox will replace howard as our starter.
Who is guarding him tonight? JH!!! with a poor percentage of shooting no wonder he can get 2o+ rebounds. Besides yao is ripped by the ref tonight, otherwise he can't score that many points in the paint tonight. He can ask no more than 4 million a year...
LOL. I knew this thread would come up midway into the first quarter. Most of the people drooling over Wilcox here don't know that Seattle got absolutely fleeced in that deal, and that Wilcox has generally sucked all year long. He only looks good against us because of poor matchups. He's actually significantly less productive than Stromile, and tends to disappear a lot more often. I'll keep Stro, thank you.
Well I believe in Swift too, I mean it honestly depends on what you expected of him in the beginning of the season. Of course, leave it up to the fans to expect big things from him, while all along the management might have not wanted a 20-10 starter from him. Who knows for real? I doubt McGrady should have said that "I'll do my best to make him an all star" thing though, because that caused a lot of false hope IMO. I would still do the trade...I don't know if I would do it in a heartbeat though, there are things to consider.
Wilcox is the same player as Swift, one night they look like freak'n Kevin Garnett, then they disappear for the next 2. We got Stro for pretty cheap so I'm not so quick to give up on him. He is at least a pretty good backup.
The thing about this deal is not about Stro vs. Wilcox IMO, it's Head vs. if we could get Ridnour/Watson. I'd rather have Stro over Wilcox, but I would want Watson or Ridnour too, I doubt they'd do a straight up trade with Head only. I like Head, he's cool and all, and he's got potential, but if we could upgrade our pg with ridnour/watson that would be ideal. I'd rather have wilcox and ridnour/watson than juwan / head playing (even if that means getting rid of stro). If we could somehow send them maybe Wesley and Head for Ridnour and/or Watson and a 2nd round pick or something, that would be awesome.
sorry guys, i dont see what all the infatuation over ridnour is about. we need a pg who brings energy and quickness. watson is the man.
I said i would do the Swift and HEAD for Ridnour or watson and wilcox. not the straightup wilcox for swift. simply because with ridnour or watson, we automatcly upgrade our PG stocks.
I want them both. Ridnour is a good (open) shooter, pass first, plays pretty good defense, good shooter, pass first, etc. He's relatively quick, I don't know about the energy part. I would also like Watson. I'd rather have Watson than Ridnour, but, I'm trying to get them both here, maybe I should write a letter to the management.
