I'm glad that Steve apologized. To me that's a nice gesture. I personally really like Kerr both as a player and as a person (from the interviews I've seen him in). Also, did anyone notice he wrote a nice article for Yao in the Yahoo sports section? Atleast when he's atoning for a wrong act, he's doing it in a right way.
Yeah, good article... http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...4BHNlYwNlY2w-?slug=sk-yao&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
It started 150 years ago. You act as if someone just said it 150 years ago, and that was then end of it.
See, it's simple as admitting mistake, apologise and move on. To most people (especially the Chinese fans), Kerr is now a more classy or great personal than the beginning of the week.
I'm glad he apologized. I think that's all everyone on this board that was offended by it wanted so I think he made a lot of people feel better about the situation.
I think this should be moved to the Debate and Discuss forum because it was extensively hashed out there. That said I accept Steve Kerr's apology and applaud him for addressing it quickly and forthrightly. As someone who debated this issue extensively I never felt Kerr was a racist just ignorant about the issue and he needed to be informed that "chinaman" was an offensive term. It looks like he was and as apologized so I agree case closed.
