If he did that against NBA players he would be called for an offensive foul 90% of the time.

Yeah Yao has been called a lot of ticky-tacky fouls in the NBA. But how in the world can anyone possibly call a foul there? I think it's perfectly legal to use your shoulder to establish position in the NBA. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

In general, calls are stricter in international competitions than in NBA. But then again referees in NBA have been known to be biased against Yao ...

Now you know why people are projecting him to be the next great Chinese import to the NBA? He's game is pretty raw though. However, if guys like Chandler and Swift can get picked obscenly high based on their raw physical ability and potentials, this guy is in the same league as those two.

And I don't understand how someone can doubt his age (some say he might be 23 or 24). Look, Yao just turned 25 this week, and Yi Jian Lian is clearly very junior when compared to Yao in the CNT and CBA. At most, Yi is 20 or 21 years old. At most.

Yao looks like a 7'6" 320 lb McGrady on this play. Left-handed dribble-penetration and finish with the right hand finger-roll.

He's definitely very athletic but he's not tall/big/strong enough to dominate in the nba. The best role model for him is the dream (duh). He has the athleticism of the dream, but the skills? obviously not even close, but if he can learn half of the dream's moves and have half of the dream's basketball IQ, he'll be an all-star PF.

not tall enough to dominate (i.e. not Yao). There are plenty of 7' players. His height will be negated by stronger players.

No way this guy plays Center in the NBA, not a chance. He's got way too much speed and athleticism to have him down low, especially since he doesn't have a chance battling in the paint.

By the way he runs the court and finishes, he really seems like a SF, a mix between Dirk's height and AK47's athleticism, obviously not as good. But I could definitely see him making a team just by the way he finishes.
